Yeah, I did. It's pretty much the same game. Though in my memory, it didn't look as (over)stylish, as in your link. Maybe it's been a demo version, I played(quite some time ago, so I can't remember exactly).
Galaga is nice, Deluxe Galaga is nice and Warblade is nice, as well.

Fantastic feel to warblade - stylish yes.

When I upgraded to the AGA version I missed the robots voice from 2.53 (and below). When I played Warblade I missed the cheeky Aussie womans voice from AGA. Rolling Eyes They seem to have combined the two voices somehow. I only wish they could patch the AGA version to look like that.

From your screenshot it looks like you used continues. You are not allowed to use continues in the competition. Sorry, we cant except that score.

Mihcael, your assumption is wrong. You can make the same screenshot of your own score also with C0 information. Just run the game, do not start it by pressing fire but go directly into the hall of fame screen (press H). Do you see C0? Of course you do Wink When you played the game and got an entry into the hall of fame then you should have C2 in the top right corner. But if you made an entry into the hall of fame, quitted the game (to save scores) and ran the game again, then always you will see C0. Some time ago I had a similar problem playing on real Amiga when I didn't have a camera to take the picture and had to transfer my hi-score file to WinUAE where I could make a screenshot. Then I had to run the game and go into the hall of fame screen. You can read more about it on EAB.

Of course you might have other doubts - the score might have been made before the competition. In that case we should see the table before and after new entry. The best possible option would be if the player who submitted the score could play again making more points.

Problem is these games we play are not designed for competitions.

That is the only outcome im seeking. But people do take things the wrong way, and people have left the comp over less.

Catching out cheaters is a thankless job, mike, but I feel it is so necessary in order to keep the playing field level; especially at this stage.

Yes, if akabei can make a higher score on the same table (with c2) then he is not only forgiven but also exonerated. Smile If not we revert to his previous score. I know that this situation is not provable either way, so I hope Aka is ok with having another go. Cool

What about crashed screenshots? Rolling Eyes Not wanting to point to anyone but we've seen a couple already, and the mods have no way to know if these were played on easy mode or normal and have only to take the players word on it. If those players beat their own scores and provide a non-corrupt high score table then they are certainly in the clear. Thats what I'd intend to do. In normal play the odd crashed screenshot is always likely to appear due the games being put under so much stress, (and I've certainly posted a few and then gone on to beat them), but I think there should definitely be a rule against posting final (points-gaining) scores using a crashed screenshot, and for all kinds of reasons.

Similarly, posting a score from a game in progress may sound harmless enough, unless that person is using infinite lives (or some other cheat) where they simply cannot actually die. Posting a 'running game' is fine if the score is then beaten, but NOT if not.

I think it is always important to back up your score merrits with fresher scores wherever possible, and to have a long list of scores in the table. Legitimacy is then guaranteed. Wink Players with only one massive high score on the table are either very good at the game (one time wonders), or they may be using savestates. It's a minefield out there.

To be succinct I think mailman might have nailed that. And I'm willing to take aca0808's word on it if he'd pop in sometime soon. Say hi aca. This round's been a bit intense what with version issues at the start. And I'd rather not see too much speculation over the validity of scores in the game thread. We've never had any serious trouble yet. Since the super league started everything has been sorted out with a friendly conversation and no rash assumptions.

With regard to scores in general, so much of this competition is run off good will that I think it's best to keep a balance between fairness and a relaxed gaming environment. Otherwise it can stop being fun. I'm good enough with photoshop that I could easily win this season. Wink

Exactly my thoughts. Someone who would be determined to cheat would make it as least obvious as possible. Therefore cheater most probably wouldn't post a crashed screenshot. At least this is my psychological point of view. At the end, any way you put it, we must take a players word on it, unless there is a great suspicion for cheating, otherwise, as said above, it would stop being fun.

Indeed. Just to clarify though. There are three mods here, so if Mike and Graham would prefer another score posted I'll go along with that. Hopefully it'll become a moot point and aca0808 will come back with a score of 100 million. Very Happy

Hey, don't confuse me with aca0808.
I'm still in the competition, but no matter how hard I try, I'm still stuck at 1.7 million points. Sad

I just had a weird experience. After level 4, I already had 800 credits and then had at least 5 warp malfunctions in a row. Quite hard to survive with single shot.

Sorry Akabei, I got you confused with Aca0808. Wink

I take cheating quite seriously and apart from a few exceptions I am glad cheating rarely comes up as an issue. The friendliness and fairness of the compo almost never fails to impress me. Smile

@ Biscuit - I notice you don't save your new scores each time. Did you know that if you press ESC twice and press 'Y' to quit, the game will save all those scores for you? There is also an option in the options panel to enable the game to save your highscores in-game, so you never lose them as they are always saved straight away. Then when you come back you won't have lost all your mega high scores. Wink

BTW, I just posted my video review of DG and a few other PD invaders classics on the Youtube channel, see it here . Smile This video rounds off my series of PD reviews, my next one (after I get my internet back after an ISP change-over) will by Syndicate. Cool

I'm still having trouble getting this game loaded, let alone getting on the score table. Might try again next week but don't think I'll be in this round Sad
