|
|
Hi Guys,
Can anybody help me with the game PORTS OF CALL?
I got this game with my A500 in 1990. I loved this game, and played it often. I have recently started playing this again, and am having the same problems as i had then. I run out of money.
LemonAmiga states that there is a cheat for this game, but for the life of me, cannot figure out how to sell the ship for more than i bought it for.
Can somebody just list a few steps (in very basic step-by-step form) so that i can get some money, and hopefully one day actually purchase one of the high-tech ships?
Questions i have:
1. Is there a hacked version with trainer anywhere?
2. What is the best homeport, and which route to take?
3. Which ship do you start with?
4. Do you steer by hand, or use tugs help?
5. How do you sell your ship for more than you buy it for?
6. One ship or many?
7. Do you accept the bribes?
I look forward to your responses, and advice.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Cheers, MagnumPI. |

First here are the answers to Yours questions :
1. I do not know and I do not think so. (I never saw one)
2. - 7. Answering these questions is like living the life for You - That is the point of the game, to choose right answers to Your questions through the whole game !
About cheating, LemonAmiga is right :
The ship buy and sell prices are ever fluctuating. Wait until prices decline and then buy as many ships as you can afford. Now wait until prices again rise, whereupon you should sell. Taking advantage of repeated price swings will result in ever accumulating profits allowing you to buy ever larger ships. Not only will you eventually be able to buy the biggest ships, but your status will have increased with each new ship purchased, and you can even obtain a loan to buy still more ships.
^ This is exactly what You have to do to become insanely rich - But beware !!! - This "procedure" will completely ruin/spoil the game - and You don't want that - believe me !
P.S. Ports of Call is one of those Amiga precious gems that made Amiga my dream computer back in late 80s ! _________________ ☭ Some people says : Amiga has no future ! ☭

First of all You have to be patient - the prices WILL fluctuate - All You have to do is going back and forth to the office/lift/market, not just stand in place and wait ! Understand ? _________________ ☭ Some people says : Amiga has no future ! ☭ |

I created a "trained" version centuries ago. Since POC supports multitasking - that is, you can switch to Workbench and back, I copied one of those hex editors used for cheating on it.
Start the game, switch to the hex editor and let it take a dump of the current state, switch back to the game and buy/sell something, let the hex editor compare anything that changed. If successful, it will find the address where the money is saved and you can change the amount all the time
And now that I write this, I'm not sure if it was POC which I trained or The Third Courier... haha, memories

Hi Kodoichi,
Thanks for your input.....really appreciated. Might try this with few different games. Which HEX EDITOR would you recommend?
