Magic Garden, The - Manual

 It all began when Grobble was caught red handed sabotaging the Gnome King`s
 Prize garden, arrested and sentenced to hard labour at a maximum security
 penal garden. The only means of escape was to perfect his gerdening skills
 and produce a garden which the Gnome King would be proud of.

 GARDENING IN "THE MAGIC GARDEN"
 ------------------------------
 The MAGIC GARDEN comprises a lawn,flower borders,a shed,a greenhouse,
 a vegetable patch, and old tree, a fountain,flowerbeds,a well,a bird
 table and below a maze of tunnles leading to the underground world of the
 naughty gnomes. The entire garden is affected by the unstable climate,
 which rapidly changes from cold to hot and wet to dry. Presiding over
 everything is th Gnome King.
 The lawn grows and must be moved. When mowing it is very important not to
 run over lawn creatures. To avoid this an insect repulsor is provided along
 with you lawn mower. The naughty gnomes will, if not caught, delighy in
 removing turf from the lawn, When this happens use the lawn speed provided.
 Failing to mantain the water level of the fountain will result in the fish
 escaping in search of water. They may be caught with a net and returned to
 the fountain, hurry though as failure to return them quickly will cause the
 gnome king to take action. The lawn is home to rampaging flowers who 
 previously found themseleves uncared for. It is unwise to get to close as
 they will take revenge for their predicament, a stun gun is advised. The 
 shed houses most tools of the gardeners trade. The generator powers some of
 the implements and must itself be powered by the solar panels, which will
 need to be put in place. The objects are many and varied and their uses
 must be discovered and utilised. The greenhouse is important for growing
 specialost flowers which can work wonders for the gardener. Temperatures
 of the greenhouse, along with that of the shed, must be closely monitored.
 Plant vegetable seeds in the vegetable patch, nuture the vegetable and 
 watch them spring to life. some will grow, but some will disappear. Find
 out why, Look inside the old tree to see what wonders are within. Travel
 down the well in your magic bucket. Care must be taken so the well creatures
 do not make you lose your balance and fall into the water below.
 Remember to take the key to underground passageways. Explore the underground
 maze and locate the numerous caverns, offering intriguing places to discover.
 And do not forget to take the naughty gnomes back to their home. You will
 find it easier if you check the map. It is wise to beware of the Gnome King
 who is always watching from the sky.

 LOADING INSTRUCTIONS

 AMIGA
 Insert the game disc in DF0 and turn the computer on. The gane will
 automatically load.
 ATARI ST
 Insert the game disc in the disk drive and turn the computer on. The game
 will automatically load.
 IBM PC and Compatibles. VGA and EGA screen displays
 Insert game disc in Drive A. Type A:RETURN. TYPE MAGIC return to load game!.

 A Table with 8 empty flowerpots and a number will appear on the screen.
 This screen relates to a pattern of flowerpots on the Magic Garden poster
 which has the same number alongside it.

 Move your trowel over the flowerpots to have flowers in them as shown in
 the pattern on the poster and click to grow a flower in that postition.

 Make the same pattern in the flower pots on the table as the pattern on the
 poster. when you have made the same pattern click on the number below the
 flowerpots. If you have correctly matched the pattern on the poster you
 will be able to continue the game. You have three attempts to get it right!.

 It is very simple to play the game: Use either the joystick or the mouse to
 move Grobble the Gnome around the garden. Pressing either the fire button on
 the joystick or the left mouse button will show inside Grobbles coat where 
 his pockets store the objects he collects.

 When using the mouse to move Grobble, his hand or trowel you must hold down
 the right mouse button.

 TO USE AN OBJECT
 ----------------
 Click the hand on the object you want to use and then move the object to
 the upturned hand and click.
 TO THROW AWAY AN OBJECT
 -----------------------
 Click the hand on the object you want to throw away and then move the object
 to the down turned hand and click.
 TO EAT AN OBJECT
 ----------------
 Click the hand on the object you want to eat and then move the hand to the
 knife and fork and click.
 TO LEAVE THE POCKET SCREEN
 --------------------------
 "Click" on the buttons on the right hand side of the screen

 Never have more than ten objects in Grobbles pockets as they are heavy and 
 will make him lose energy quickly.

 USES OF OBJECTS
 --------------- 
 NB: all the objects can be used for different tasks, and remember some
 objects will not work unless another object is also in your pocket. Certain
 objects can only be used in special locations.
 E.G To plant a flower.
 
 (1)"Click" on the flower seed when in the sand
 (2) Move Grobble to a flower border.
 (3)"Click" to enter the pocket screen 
 (4)"Click" your hand on the flower seed.
 (5)"Click" on the use hand (unturned).
 NB: Make sure you have a garden fork in the pocket and Grobble is standing
 on a flower bed or it will not work.
 
 PICKING UP OBJECTS
 ------------------
 
 When inside a room Grobbles hand will appear on screen. Move this hand
 over an object and click. Some things within the rooms will rooms will
 work immediately after being clicked on.
  EXAMPLE: Click on the window in the window in the greenhouse and it
 will open. To exit a room move hand to the right hand side of the screen
 and click.

 SAVING A GAME OR LOADING A SAVED GAME

 ***** MAKE SURE YOU MAGIC GARDEN GAME DISC IS WRITE PROTECTED *****
 
 (1) Goto Grobbles pocket screen.
 (2) Click on the ticket marked S for "Save" or L for "Load"
 (3) When 2 pictures of Grobble appear on the screen move your joystick
     or mouse either left or right to select either picture of Grobble.
     Selecting the picture of Grobble marked with a Cross with stop the
     game from Saving or Loading . Selecting the picture without the
     cross will make the game save or load
 (4) When the picture of Grobble with a blank disc is highlighted insert a
     saved game disk
 (5) When the picture of Grobble with a magic garden disc is highlighted 
     insert The Magic Gardens Disc.
