This game is still the standard by which other Space Trading sims are judged.
Sure it is old, but it is still a treat to play. The graphics and framerate still make for some good space dogfights, or whatever avenue you prefer to explore. That was the beauty - non-linear - you could go where you wanted and do what you wanted. If you wanted to trade in legal goods, or illegal goods, you did not really have to buy anything you could (once you had sufficient firepower) just go take out ships and retrieve there cargo, you could mine asteroids. So many choices, that is what I most enjoyed.
Sure this game was simple in some ways, but in others it is a massive. Compared to its 8-bit parent it was very KEWL to take the same game with updated graphics. I would not mind seeing the same exact game that runs in 32-bit colour and has DX9 Support, maybe with Multiplayer option.
There are two types of people, those that GET Elite and those that don't. If you are part of the don't people then I would suggest you give it another thought and approach this game with patience. It is easy to learn and play, but takes time to get the most out of it.
ELITE, the king of them all for this type of game, has stood the test of time and is still an enjoyable game.

Basic sounds, could have been done better to take advantage of Amiga's custom sound processor.

Extremely playable! It's not a Wing Commander type, but must be enjoyed over time with patience.

| The mould for which all other space trading games are compared, even the newly released X3 The Reunion draws comparison. |
