Rally ChampionshipsAGA 1994, Flair Software
This game was originally released in 1995 by Flair Software. It has two versions, for ECS and AGA users. The first arrives on 4 disks, the second had 7. Both had HD install option, but as I've tried the AGA to install, it has several bugs in the code, therefore it refuse to start on any Amigas with 040 or above, and have some problems on lower configs too.

After a short loading, some intro pics appear to show some credits and the title screen. Then an option screen comes up, where the game's parameters can be modified. The player's name can be entered, the driving method, and game style. Then the level of difficulty can be selected, which affects on the nr. of races you have to run to finish the race.

The next screen is the car selection. Six different cars are in the game, all can be viewed with the basic datas and informations, to choose the one which fits to the available budget. If championship have been chosen in the main options, there's only one car to select in the beginning, and depending of the further results the incoming money gives the chance to select any better models. Some cheat: if you searching the car's data file on the disks, it's in ascii format and allows you to change the price, so you can set the price to the minimum for all, and this can be used for the co-pilots as well.

On the Garage screen you can refill the fuel tank, choose a co-pilot, change tyres, repair the car or select a new one. Depending on the knowledge level of the co-pilot he/she will inform you sooner or later before the blockers on the track. Tyre-selection is clear, you have to select the one which fits the best to the next race.

If practice was chosen in the options screen, a special asphalt/mud track will be loaded, and all the 6 cars will be available to test.

The game is very addictive and fun to play, only two things are causing problems, the buggy code and the short visibility on the tracks. If you can run it on your hw, try it out, worth it.

Review Summary
GRAPHICS: 9 / 10
Well designed objects, rendered menu screens and car animations, the only negative point is with the skidmarks, as they aren't parallel, ang logically drawn to the ground, and disappears in every round.

SOUND: 9 / 10
Good maintune, lots of speech, female "mitfahrer" atmospheric engine sounds, although some samples could be replaced for smoother music.

PLAYABILITY: 7 / 10
Good dynamism, a rollin' game, but the short distance of vision of the tracks can cause some annoying moments.

OVERALL: 9 / 10
The best top-down racing game on Amiga, The two (ECS and AGA) versions runs on almost all models. Doesn't work on CDTV. A must have.
