Review
Projectyle 1990, Electronic Arts
Hello there Amiga lovers!
My name is Steffen, I'm from Norway and I will gladly tell you about an amazing game called Projectyle! I wrote this review because I greatly recommend this game to any Amiga fan world wide! Please read on...

What's the game all about?
It's kind of a sports game, and simply said: you win by getting the most scores (no, it's not soccer). The game is played in an arena and there is a ball that you must use to score with. In this game you don't have one enemy team, but TWO! Does this make the game hard? Almost impossible? Of course not! (It's not 2 vs. 1, it's 1 vs. 1 vs. 1!) The arena, which I will explain later on, looks completely different to any other type of sports games. Actually, this game is completely different to any other sports game that I know of, and that's one of the reasons why it's so special, creative and something of it's own!

Location?/Year?
I am not sure about this, but it looks like this game is set in the future, or perhaps on another planet or in a fantasy world! Most importantly: it looks awesome! The football looks like a disc and the players look like they are in some kind of a round protective circle (I don't know...). It's not important anyway, but it looks great and it fits this game perfectly! Not all the teams are human, you have cats, aliens, devils, wheels etc. I know it sounds crazy, but it's great and I'll explain the teams soon.
To make things more easy, I will now explain the arena...

The Arena
The screenshot above shows what the arena looks like. The devils, the terminators and the eldritch cats is having a fight against each other at the devils home arena. The arena looks like a giant plus+. The three teams are starting the game in the middle. There are four tunnels that the ball/disc can go through. The north part of the arena leads to the devils goal. In this "area/sector" of the arena the cats and the terminators are teaming up to get the disc in the goal. If the cats scores and not the terminators, the cats will receive one point. The devils will try to get the ball out and back in the middle of this area . The west part of the arena is the cats goal and the devils and the terminators are trying to score and the cats will try to get it out of there. And finally east: the terminators goal, the cats and the devils wants to score and the terminators want to get it out of there! Very easy to explain and understand right?
You also have the south area of the arena. I want to call that the "berserk area". Here all the three goals from each team is set up. Very small and dangerous and ANYTHING can happen! (A self-goal is very easy to get in the "berserk-area") You don't want to get the disc in there, huh?

The game has three teams, so the game is set up to three rounds. On round 1 the devils will start to have their goal in the north since it is their home arena. On round 2 the devils will have their goal to the east and on round 3 the devils will have their goal to the west. (The berserk-arena is ALWAYS south!) And so with the other teams, they also change goal area after each round. Very simple and okay with a little variety in the game.

The disc moves very fast and it is very easy to get it in the tunnel/goal you didn't want it to go in, so anything can happen in this game! Very fun!
When the time runs out, the team with the most scores wins! If it seems hopeless to win, at least try to get the second place instead of the last! In a league, the winner receive most points, but the second place gets more points then the last place does.
Now I will tell you about the teams you can choose and their home courts:

The screenshot above shows up when you are going to pick the team you want to be, there are 8 teams to choose from and the teams are:

1. The Eldritch Cats (Yellow)
2. The Uzteks (Orange)
3. Sledge Hammers (Grey)
4. Manic Moose (Blue)
5. Vectors (Green)
6. Jovian Jello Juggernauts (Purple)
7. The Devils (Red)
8. Terminators (Pink)

On the screenshot above, to the left you first see the teams logo, then you see a circle, those are the characters that is on the arena and plays. Then at last you see the name of the team. Now I will explain each of the teams and the experience I have had of playing each of them:
Note: All of the teams don't have advantages and disadvantages of the other teams, just different in appearance to make the game fun, colourful and graphically good! And most important: To make all the teams different and something of their own (and that's half the fun! To have so many different teams to pick!).

The Eldritch Cats
This team is yellow and they are black cats! Very nice to see them in action and it's one of my favourite teams in the game.
Their home arena is great and it moves fast! Here is a screenshot of their home arena!

Looks great huh? Here they are in a fight against the uzteks and sledge hammers. The arena has arrows on the ground and many holes that shows another ground level under, and it surely looks awesome when camera moves (you understand what I mean when you see it)! Their disc is a yellow circle with a transparent "mirror-like" hole and it looks great when it is moving!
Note: There are 8 cool songs in this game and each song represents a team arena:
The cat's song is probably the song you get most tired of listen to after a while, it's quite repetitive and is the same 8 seconds song played in a loop, but it's very cool for a short while...

The Uzteks
The Uzteks are humans dressed up in heavy orange armours. Their home arena looks like a giant golden aztec temple and fits well for the Uzteks.
Disc/Fotball: The only disc I feel looks very 3-D. Very cool disc. Rolls great on the Uztek's stone ground.
Song: This is one of my favourite songs with a beautiful refrain.

Sledge Hammers
The Sledge Hammers is the only team that I don't know what kind of "creatures" they are. But when I was a kid, I always thought they looked like bikes or something. They are grey and one of my least favourites in the game. Here is a screenshot of their home arena:

It looks like bronze bricks or something, an OK arena. It feels this arena moves slow, probably because of the graphics or something.
Disc: Not really much to say about this disc, the same colour as the ground and could almost camouflage itself on the ground.
Song: Nothing special about this song. Everything about sledge hammers is my least favourite. But I am sure everyone has a favourite and least favourite team in this game.

Maniac Moose
The other human team in heavy blue armours. Here is a picture of their home arena:

Looks like outside on winter time with snow. An OK arena, but not the one in the game that wakes up your attention most if you know what I mean.
Disc: Like the sledge hammers disc, it camouflage after the colour on the ground, and on this one: white.
Song: One of my favourite song in the game, sounds like an electric guitar converted right into the Amiga. YEAH!

Vectors
Not my favourite but still a very cool team, they are green arrows. I am really impressed about their home arena (too bad there aren't any screenshot of theirs...) Everything is black and green just like the vectors arrows and the music really helps the attention of the arena. The arena looks like a discotheque!
Disc: A cool black and green disc that looks just like the vectors arrow (just without the arrow in the middle) and fits in the arena!
Song: Very disco/dance sounding makes you wanna stand up and dance! Fits PERFECTLY for the the discotheque-look-a-like arena!

Jovian Jello Juggernauts
It's very funny to look at this team, they are purple wheels and they are animating even when they are standing still (the wheels are spinning)! Their home arena looks like legoland! The arena is light-green with lego bricks all over it. Jovian Jello is one of my favourite teams in the game.
Disc: It's a cute little light-green wheel. Very cool disc!
Song: Very jazzy song. Not the worst or the best song in the game but is good.

The Devils
Ah yes, the devils! Those were my favourite team when I was a kid. They looks like tanks (guess the devils are inside the tank). Here is a picture of their home arena:

Guess where their home arena is? Hell. Excellent arena with brown ground with red animating lava outside the arena.
Disc: Nice disc. Gold with 4 red dots that fits the arena perfectly and cool to look at when it is moving!
Song: A nice song with a catchy refrain.

Terminators
And finally you have the terminators. They are pink flying saucers.
Marvellous home arena! Looks like it's on an alien planet or something.
Disc: Nice little disc. A little cute flying saucer.
Song: This song is going to blow you away the first time you hear it. Cool voices in the songs like. "Ohh Yeahh!!" PERFECT for the creepy alien arena! Really bizarre!

Conclusion
Projectyle is a fantastic Amiga game which is very entertaining! You can have up to 7 friends and 2 friends to play this with you simultaneously. The computer intelligence is great: you can have them play easy or hard (on the options screen). You can even make them move away from the ball on purpose, so that you can have the court for yourself to practice!
This game may have some long loading times, but it's worth the wait! And remember: This game is only on ONE DISK!
Projectyle is indeed a giant gem in an Amiga collection with very nice graphics, music, playability, (let's not deny it!) great computer intelligence and fantastic atmosphere in all of the teams home arenas.
I will always remember this game, and who knows: maybe a remake of this game could be made sometime, but still, I don't think any remake could be as fun and amazing as this 1990 game! If you haven't played it, I really recommend you to try it and I hope my review increased your temptation to play it. (at least TRY IT!)

Thank you so much for reading! LONG LIVE THE AMIGA!

Review Summary
GRAPHICS: 9 / 10
Amazing graphics and much life when the teams are moving on the arena! Nice colours, nice graphics!

SOUND: 9 / 10
I really haven't played this game often without music, so I can't tell about the sound effects, but this game has some of the best music I have ever heard on the Amiga! It makes me want to listen to those songs over and over again! I guess that's why I've rarely tried this game without music.

PLAYABILITY: 10 / 10
Very easy to get started with and one of the games with the best playability I have ever put my eyes upon! FANTASTIC! FULL SCORE!

OVERALL: 10 / 10
Full score from me, without any doubt! Projectyle is one of my biggest favourite Amiga games ever and every Amiga fan should at least try this game! Maybe the best game from 1990. A GEM!
