Guldkorn Expressen 1991, SuperSoft

Guldkorn Expressen (English translation: The Gold Corn Express):
Most of you have probably never people heard about this Danish game. From the look of the cute graphics, this looks like a children's game, but gets surprisingly hard later on throughout the game. Anyway, now I will explain what you are supposed to do in this game:

Spiller 1 Parat - Bane 1 (Translation: Player 1 Ready - Level 1)

Make the famous cereal!: (NOT by Kellogg's though...)
You are the cute little bear who controls a train. Your mission is to make and deliver a huge amount of a specific cereal (the cereal looks very much like Kellogg's Smacks). You do so by following these three simple steps in the right order:
1: Find three wagons along the way and hook them up behind your train.
2: Find all the cereals along the way, just "drive on them" and they are inserted in your wagons.
3: Find a beehive and get a drop of honey on your cereals.
Then all that is left is to deliver the goods to the finish line. And then: Congratulations, you are ready for the next level.

The levels are getting harder and harder with more hinders and tracks (this is a platform game, so the tracks are split into floors (in heights)).

Tips:
I will now tell you what hinders you may meet during the way:
- Sometimes you will find big rocks on the track. You need dynamites to blow them up. You find dynamites during the way,but do remember that you have a limit on dynamites.
- When you see a fallen tree, the bear can eat some of the cereal. He will then gain superpower and the train can jump over the tree.
- Gravel may also be found on the track. The bear will easily step out of the train and dig it away.
- In case you don't know, your bear has a bee partner with him. When pressing the joystick button, you change control on the bee instead of the bear (train). The bee can adjust the sticks on the way so you can choose a different track to drive on. He is also the one who makes sure that the honey makes it to the cereal. Pressing the joystick button again, you control the bear/train instead of the bee. But don't worry, the bee will automatically follow the train.
- Do also remember that the larger amount of cereals you have in your wagons, heavier the train will be. You then need higher speed to get up the higher floors.
You start the game with 3 lives and you must also beat the time, so think fast, but not too fast!

Conclusion:
You don't have to understand Danish to understand this game. It's still too bad that there couldn't have been made an English version so it may have gotten some more recognition. Anyway, give it a go!

NOTE: There is also a Swedish version of this game called "Kalas Puffs Expressen".

Review Summary
GRAPHICS: 7 / 10
Good and also very detailed on the small parts.

SOUND: 6 / 10
Nice varied music and funny sounds. My favourite is when the bee says something like: "Værsågod, en biproduksjon" (Translation: "There you go, a beeproduction").

PLAYABILITY: 8 / 10
Fun and challenging.

The game is also very easy to learn. Play it for like 2 minutes and then you understand how everything works, even if you don't understand Danish.

OVERALL: 8 / 10
Guldkorn Expressen is a nice little brain/puzzle game. I highly recommend it.
