Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis 1993, US Gold
Indiana Jones is the ultimate action adventure hero. He's knowledgeable about his field of work (archeology and history), but he's not a stuck up guy lecturing people about it - he's an adventurer out to seek the treasures of the world.

As everybody knows already, there were three Indiana Jones movies made thus far and the fourth one is in the process of making. Being a very popular trilogy there have been several games made about the hero. Atari's Raiders of the Lost Ark (entitled the same as the first movie), through the very primitive C64 game Indiana Jones in the Lost Kingdom, right up to the 3D fiasco of Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb. Out of all those games there have only been two point-and-click adventures and this is the one not based on the movie.

You play Henry Jones jr. more commonly known Indiana (although they named the cat that), who's visited by a German scientist about a collection with an ancient artifact hidden deep in the janitor's locker of your collage. In it there's an Atlantian statue, which a bead of a mysterious metal can power up. Yes, you're off to find Atlantis, before the Nazis do!

Apart from he role of Jones you also get to switch to the lovely Sophia, who tags along with Indy. She's the "expert" on Atlantis, because she's guided by the spirit from the lost city, through the neckless she got at an archaeological dig she raided. Now you need to travel the world (from US, to Iceland, Latin America, Europe and North Africa, to finally find the legendary Atlantis, which contrary to what you might have read in 20.000 leagues under the sea, doesn't lay in the Atlantic ocean, but can be found in the Mediterranean.

One of the best features of the game are the three different middle parts. Once you decide to leave for Europe you can go alone as a man of action, as a thinking man or go together with Sophia. This will give you three different scenarios on how to reach the lost city.

It's a very enjoyable game I couldn't find any flaw to. In my opinion one of the best computer games ever made, I'm only sorry the Amiga version can not include speech (it would simply require too many floppies).

Review Summary
GRAPHICS: 10 / 10
Excellent graphics. I really think this game pulled just about everything there could be pulled out (graphic vise) from the Amiga.

SOUND: 10 / 10
OK, there was a PC CD version with speech, but apart from that improvement, the sound is very good indeed and helps you get into the mood (just like living the movie).

PLAYABILITY: 10 / 10
The game has high replayability, since it's very well made and fun to play, plus there are three way how to get it done. You can also die (during or at the end of the game), so it's not quite the same every time you play.

OVERALL: 10 / 10
An excellent game that would have been the greatest classic if it followed the movie. Getting to know a story through a video game (rather than some other media) tends to make people doubt the depth of the plot line - which in this case is brilliant (and well worth a movie).
