Pit-Fighter 1991, Domark
Systems like Amiga and Atari ST were always the primary choice for the developers to port arcade games to, as they had more processing power and memory than their older 8-bit brothers. However still some of the titles ported to them sucked badly, Pit-Fighter being a perfect example.

The biggest mistake the developers made was trying to follow the arcade version faithfully, which was not possible as Amiga didn't have the power of a dedicated arcade machine. When your target platform is weaker than the source it is obvious that you have to compromise. You do this by cutting down on graphics and sound, but you do NOT do this by sacrificing gameplay. Unfortunately the developers of Pit-Fighter chose to do it exactly the other way around.

The graphics and the digitized sprites are actually very similar to the arcade version. But the gameplay is nowhere near the arcade, although even the arcade was pretty average. Rules of physics don't apply here either, sometimes you don't even have to actually hit your opponent to hurt him. Sometimes your fist doesn't even hit your enemy but blood flies everywhere. The funny thing is the game is very picky and pixel-exact when it comes to picking up the power-ups, which basically makes them useless as you can't afford wrestling with the controls to align the player properly in the heat of the battle. And also controls are very unresponsive which certainly doesn't help.

Unlike the C64 version, the music also sucks, probably because the arcade counterpart was nothing special either. This game basically has no redeeming feature, unless looking at digitized low-quality images of sweaty half-naked men turns you on.
