Super League 2021: Round 5 - Pang & Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge

Our first double round of the year and there is an extra week to get your scores in for these classics. Voting for round 6 will start next week.

A great coin-op conversion of the 1989 ball bursting arcade game that was originally called Buster Bros. There are a total of 50 levels. Ocean can make good games.

Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge [lemon] [hol]
Iconic car. Iconic racing series. If you beat all the the races and come top of the results table there is a message which you could send to Gremlin and receive a Lotus License in the post. Still haven't seen one of these online. Anyone got one?

Rules:
Get the best score you can, during this round.
Post screenshots of your score in this thread, and write the score nearby.
Scores to be achieved without save-states, trainers, passwords, and cheats.
No continues or infinite score leeching.
Finish the game and post a screenshot of the end for the completion star.

Special Scoring and Rules:
IMPORTANT - Pang: Most cracks were made from an incomplete beta version of the game and have some elements missing that will affect the scores. You must use one of the linked versions below when entering the competition.
Pang: Play on Normal mode. Start from Stage 1.
Lotus: Play all three difficulties and add the scores together.
Lotus: For the completion star finish the hard races and come 1st overall. Screenshot the congratulations message.

Been looking forward to this, neither are games I particularly hold love for, but I do enjoy both and they both hold an important place in Amiga history and are relatively early in release (1990 ish). Like the fact they are both so different in challenge.

Its very difficult to beat the final race in Lotus 1, so perhaps its easiest to take a screenshot on the line, just before the final race starts, to prove you made it, and then the final score table which appears if you win or lose the race.

Pang is mega difficult in certain stages, and I've never beaten Easter Island, so it will be interesting to see how far we get. The veterans from last time can mostly get to America, but many also get stuck at Ankor Watt. If you get too frustrated, there is a 'perfect' way to finish each screen, which I attempt to show on the playguide video.

One tip for newbie is to shoot every platform, as this can give a bonus weapon or extra life.

Not quite as far as I made it on the playguide, but I was unlucky here, as you can see I had two lines/streams but somehow got hit behind the wall.

Thats a great tip about the extra lives. Lets not have anyone deliberately milking the game, or farming extra score from screens which contain extra lives and deliberately dying. This is unsporting but also gives unlimited score for doing it, so I hope everyone will play fair and try to get further each time.

Having double checked it's better to submit the congratulations screen because you only get that when finishing all the races and top of the table on hard. That screen should stay up until pressing fire because you have to write those numbers down. Can't remember.

Shake the gloves off early, Cannot get the WHDLoad version to work, It just craps out, (sometimes before you've even pressed fire.) Anyway, Quick pacer.

Alestes - Yes its important to use the correct crack with animals. With the bonuses in the full version, the final completion score is usually around 2M points. Your high score probably wont get you into the top 10.

And for those of you that wondered, This and the ST versions of both are pretty simlar. The sound is possibly better on these versions.

And for those of you who played Pang before. You'll be all like "Hello old friend." for about 20 minutes when you remember how close you came to throwing your 1200 out of the window.

I remembered Lotus being a lot faster and smoother, But there you go.
