Highly entertaining.. Atleast it was back then
using lines like "i have a cat named garfield" at the car dealer to get discounts cracked me up

Even if the second was my favourite, i recognize this one was at the time a big step, hard to handle (to me) but veryyyy fun, mostly at two players

Nothing more to add than to agree with the comments below that this was slightly better than the follow up and the best overhead racing game on the Amiga until the Skidmarks games came along.

Great stuff! I like the background music while racing which is something that Super Cars 2 got rid of.

Near perfect, safe for the 2-player function.

Excellent game. Next to the racing and the cool upgrade-possibilities (with missiles, cool idea), I liked the way you could deal with the car sales guy. Awesome fun! And the music belongs to the best in any Amiga racing game.

The BEST racing game (well Crazy Taxi is as good as this one, but more than 10 years had passed, and more than ten had to be passed to get another one as good as this one), a friend had a pirate copy of the game, but I thought I HAVE TO BUY THIS ONE and I did it.
Not only the game is terrible addictive with a perfect difficulty growning, it also have fantastic detailed graphics (watch thelandscapes and that shadows over the cars), awesome music (I love playing on tracks 4 and 8 because its music) and magnificente FX (ear that steers wowwww), cool levels (tracks have a lovely design) and smooooooooooth scroll and controls making great use of our Amiga possibilties.
One 10 score Amiga game.
Super Cars had a follow game, Super Cars 2 that is very good racing game smoother than the first part and has 2 player mode, but SC2 is not as good as this one...

A potentially excellent game with a squiffy difficulty curve.

A marvellous racing game! Very nice graphics, many different tracks (split in three racing classes), three VERY cool cars to choose from, great soundtrack (especially the title music) and even greater playability! Plus: a cool shop-feature and the extremely funny car salesman! Only downer: there's no 2-player mode...(But that gets fixed in SC2!) But nevertheless: a racing masterpiece!!!

I played this game after I played the Super Cars II. Here's no 2 player mode but still another great racer. Great soundtracks, great graphics, ability to tune up your car (I think this is better than the tuning in II)
Great playability. It's just I'm not playing it any longer because part II just outclasses this game in every way. I'm still grateful to Magnetic Fields for this game.
Graphics: 8 - nice detail, just the overhead-view making it 2D.
Sound: 8 - Really great soundtracks. Maybe the bumping could have been done better. And the engine doesn't sound real.
Playability: 8 - sometimes steering is hard or you get stuck somewhere. You'll be able to steer precisely and move quick with more engines.

Perhaps the best single player overhead racer that I played on the Amiga (in addition to Jupiter's Masterdrive). The sliding cars & tyre screeches were just great! This time I fell in love with the girl in the car service, how sad of me... The oldschool soundtrack (like in Lotus 1) is more to my taste than the later unmelodic eurodance tunes of SC II & Lotus 2.

This was the best overhead-view racing game ever seen at the time, although Super Offroad and Super Skidmarks did later eclipse it. I'd rate this a little ahead of the sequel, as the latter was too obsessed with the extras and lacked the handling upgrades, but both are very good indeed. Magnetic Fields sure knew how to do racing games.

Very good game, which I put on a closet-shelf after I got Super Cars 2. Still this is a good game! Good graphics and sound and playability. It's just that part 2 outclasses this game in every department. Good game nevertheless!
Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 7/10
Playability: 8/10
Overall: 7/10

Heheheh.... FUN! FUN! FUN! I never had so much fun playing a driving game like I used to have with Super Cars and the sequel... Until I bought Crazy Taxi, but many years had passed! The greatest feature in this game was the guy at the shop, I still can't stop laughin' remembering the dialogs

This game and the sequel are two of the best Amiga racing games ever. I liked the overhead view a lot. Nice graphics. I always felt there was a great atmosphere in this game. The screen shots bring back lots of memories! Don't miss this one!

I played this game and the sequel quite alot. The graphics are nice and the top-down view driving is very playable. Only thing I don`t liked was that the dev probably didn`t liked acid house.
