A classic game worth mastering. The game is still fun today, and just as difficult - although a vast amount easier than the arcade original.

Amiga version is pretty nice IMO for a 1988 game. Activision didn't give a lot of time to the teams that realise their arcade conversions and the games were coded on ST for a fast conversion to Amiga, that's the main reasons why a lot of them are so bad. But here we have a nice work from the Activision in-house team Software Studios. Amiga musics are ok (not the best work clearly, but nice for the year), GFX are colorful with nice rasters and parallax scrolling, and it's perfectly playable with respactable framerate, far more than on ST. It's a nice port, better than a lot of others from Activision or US Gold for example. If you play using NTSC display, it is much faster than PAL and almost fills the screen.

Super Hang on on the Amiga is a very good racer and reasonably close to the arcade machine. Not a perfect translation but a fun game that is also addictive for a while, like all good arcade games should be (7/10).

Fantastic arcade conversion ! Colourful graphics & roaring sfx ! Lots of tracks & exciting gameplay ! The only big mistake is the strict time limit ! Ps: the st version is a bit easier ! Nevertheless 9/10 !

For an early driving game, it is acceptable. However, that does not mean it is good overall.

Not only does it not take advantage of the Amiga (it is a direct full CPU port of the ST version) but it runs at a very low frame rate (between 15 and 20 fps), has a very pale and limited colour palette which is not faithful to the arcade, the opponents's bikes have a very jerky trajectory and seem to hop left and right constantly as you approach them and the controls work reasonably well only if you play with the mouse.

It does not convey at all the smooth driving feeling of the arcade and is essentially a cheap ST version.

I can only assume that people liked this game because there was simply no better driving game at the time and it represented a leap in graphics compared to the 8 bit computers generation. But compared objectively to later driving games on the Amiga and given the fact that there are almost no objects on screen it is in the end quite a bad port which does not take advantage of the Amiga's capabilities.

The Megadrive version is better but this is an okay conversion. Very nice sense of speed and the joystick control is good when set to high sensitivity.

I think there are too many opponents making this game more about dodging than racing. Graphics, sound and gameplay are mostly good though.

7/10

Loved this to death back in the day. One of the Amiga finest Motorcycle racers. Quite a good conversion from famed programmer ZZKJ, this was quite speedy even on a bog-standard 512kb OCS Amiga 500. Great little gem!

One of the better versions, but no where near as good as the Mega Drive version. Looked good and I enjoyed playing with the mouse than the joystick. Problem I found though was the cornering. Just didn't feel in control and would have to really slow down to get round it.

I prefered the sega version with the career mode, if this version had it I would have voted 9. Really good arcade game 8/10

OK, but where's the hype? Maybe it is fast, maybe the conversion was not ruined but the game lacks of any logic. It is easier to ride a curve with the speed of 280 km/h than 120 km/h. Drifting does not depend on speed but on keeping the accelerate button pushed. You may ride at the slowest pace on the outer side of the bend and your bike will still be drifiting outside the bend which is completely ridicilous since the very same bend you can ride without any drifting speeding at max with nitro on! It may lead to the funny situations that when you hit the opponent or he hits you, you lose your speed and you won't be able to get through the curve fast. Average game. Very average game...

Just plain awesome arcade fun, with real arcade style music and a great bike sound fx that winds up when you hit the boost! Whilst the gfx are nothing to write home about, they were pretty special at the time, and the non stop levels that blend together makes for a true arcade feel with no loading times! This was and still is one of my fav arcade racers!

The game I used has a filler between heavier plays. Love the chill-out arcade like play - just play until you loose and then forget it. Great stuff.

Pretty simplistic by today's standards and severely lacking in longevity, but still solid and quite enjoyable if one takes into account the drivel used that to be sold as a "racing game" in the late 80ies.

Very much the best Sega -> Amiga conversion there is. Electric Dreams should have done more as Elite seemed to make a total hash of things and most others too for that matter.

One of very few Sega to Amiga conversions that can be taken seriously.

Near arcade perfect this was, the only thing missing was the motodublicate u had to ride to play it on some coin-ops!

This is one of the few, good and honest coin-up conversion for Amiga, it deserves a good feedback for the respect the programmers had for our computer. Nothing comparable with RVF Honda, but still the best "arcade" moto-racer for the Commodore platform.

For me one of the best racing games on the Amiga.
The feeling of speed is the best compared to all other games in this category.
Nice GFX and sound. Great arcade conversion.

It looked just like the coin-op...

But played at about one quarter of the speed.

I was always wondering why at that time all the Amiga users had to hope in a very well programmed ST porting to get good conversion of arcade games!
Fortunately this time, despite straight ST porting, the game is good and funny to play. This is at least how Out Run should had to be.

The first Amiga racing game I got hooked on. Terrific gameplay, good sense of speed (turbo boost!) and colourful graphics - loved the between-level changes. The only really good Sega arcade racing game conversion for the Amiga, I think.

Good and enjoyable conversion, it didn't suffer that much from the shrinked bikes - yes, they really were MUCH bigger on the coin-op and on the incredible Megadrive version...

Given the general standard of arcade converstion to the Amiga (very poor, considering it's capabilites), this was a pleasant surprise. Good fun to play with cracking music!
