No, it is not a bad game and no, it is not a C=64-ish game ! Please stop to be focused to the C64. It is just a 8bits style platform game like you can also find on CPC, Spectrum, NES, Master System, PC-Engine... All the video game world do not turn around C64 you know !
That said, it is a lovely cute game. Not really original, very hard because you can't control jumps, graphics are detailled but with black backgrounds and no ingame music. Axel's Magic Hammer is still nice to play with a lot of secret rooms for classical platform game lovers. Of course, AXEL is the anagram of ALEX, so it is clarely inspired by the SEGA game.
Funny, Core Design graphician Terry Lloyd re-used a lot of sprites and tiles of Axel's Magic Hammer in Impossamole in 1990 and I think it is the same team that worked on this other underrated game

Good game - if you play on C64. But you play on Amiga, so it's
far beyond graphical possibilites. However it is fun - for a while...

Very nice, C=64-ish game.

The controls are a bit awkward, but nothing to distract from the game.

The colors are dark, so on WinUAE change the colors on the "Display" tab.
Recommended:
gfx_luminance=180 ("Brightness"-slightly above middle)
gfx_contrast=610 (slightly above half-way between middle and top)
gfx_gamma=-610 (slighly below half-way between middle and bottom)

Would have liked this one if the controls had been better.

Okay game. The second level reminds me of a bit of a stage in Alex Kidd.

A black background. How impressive...

Another not-so-spectacular platformer... I didn't get hooked but this was OK, I thought. Does the name have something to do with that Beatles song "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"?

I think I'm one of the few that played this religously! Nothing groundbreaking with functional sound and visuals but had that "I must see the next level" factor for me. Lovely!

Average game, no big hit but can be quite fun for a short while...

Pretty straight platform game. The graphics are so-so, but it'll keep you entertained for a little while.
