Pretty fun game actually once I got the hang of it. Before you get weapon power upgrades, it is key to jump back after you hit some of the stronger enemies. Also in WinUAE, I set the processor to a 68020 and the music played at an appropriate pace instead of slowing down all the time.

I am very fond of this kind of games so I was very happy, back then, when I discovered Torvak in the The Games Machine review (which highly praised the game). Too bad it turned out to be quite a mediocre hack'n slash with some nice ideas (the way you could use magic) and a very slow gameplay. I liked the fact that there were plenty of secrets, yet overall it is a very disappointing experience. 5/10.

This game is bad. Bad controls; it takes forever to use Torvak's axe, and you need at least two hits to kill most enemies in this game (one tiny bug is impossible to kill, Torvak cannot reach it!!!). Bad music; it's out of the place! Decent graphics. I think even Ghost Battle was better than this. Shame on you Torvak.

Fairly enjoyable Rastan clone with good graphics. Needs some practice timing the slashes correctly to hit the enemies. The title screen music is nearly identical to the one of Castle Master as the musician used the same samples.

A very crudely-made game, with Master System-quality graphics that jerk across the screen like a lawnmower being driven over rocks, cheesy music that clashes horribly with the heroic fantasy theme, and a color palette that makes Rubicon look like Brian the Lion.
Still, there are plenty of ugly games that manage to be fun, so can't Torvak the Warrior be good under its hideous exterior? No, actually - it's nearly unplayable. The controls are absolutely broken: Torvak walks like he's slogging through mud, but jumps like a kangaroo. Touching an enemy throws him back about 20 feet, and he sometimes ricochets off of a few more before being able to move again. He takes forever and a day to swing his axe, and enemies almost always get a hit in while he's winding up for the next strike. There's more, but I'm not going to play the game again to remember all of it - it's the video game equivalent of The Eye of Argon, except that reading The Eye of Argon can actually be fun. Stay away from this wretched piece of garbage and play Lionheart if mighty barbarians are your thing.

Preety good game with some Conan style atmosphere and graphics. At the beginning steering of the hero might be a bit odd but you need to practice. After a while you get used to it and the game can suck you in for hours even if you fail so many times. Some flaws of course are present. One of them is music and sound. The former is a bit boring, squeeky and repetitive while the latter is so weak that the sound engineer guy should be put under some medical examinations because in my opinion he was deaf (hear the sound of jump and land). All in all, this is quite good game if you turn off music and don't mind ridiculous sounds.

10/10 one of my favorite Amiga games .

Really enjoyed this one, but then again, I am so much into barbarians, orcs, and so...
All in all a very nice and effective platform game in my opinion.
8/10

Hmm I didn't think much of the game first off, but played it couple of times, soon got into it and started getting addicted.

Played this one for many a few hours. Nice graphics too. Could do a lot worse than get hold of this.

As a Conan fan this game appealed to me, and it actually is quite entertaining - first tried it off a demo disk with low expectations, and didn't like it too much then. But while it's not really great, it also has a lack of clear faults, and that is the main strength of Torvak. A bit like what the Ishar games did for RPG's.

Quite nice I recall, didn't play it too much since my "disk 2" got messed up!

A nice, little, simple and rewarding game, very arcadey and quite hard to leave. The "one-more-go" syndrome was pretty unavoidable with this little gem, and this sure showed its quality. A fine job, truly.
