Hmm so this game.... Bhaaa! I can hardly remember anything from this game more then this AWSOME music, so light, deep, mystic and sudenly funky in a wierd way.
The game play was like the Sim city, except that you are in space at som god forsaken rock in the middle of absolutly nowhere
I liked the game at the time, remembered sitting half a night and just playing at my A500, and everything went on smoothly and than BANG what? There was a riot and you was killed.
Yes as a mayor you could get killed in this game.
After all it's a very dynamic game at the time, i cant tell anything about it these days because my dear A1200 is in a state of coma....

Not quite spoken about at the time, strange because it was a wonderfull game, impossible for me to win the last stage, still today...Agh...

I remember spending lots of hours on this strategy game. It was really adictive.

The intro is the baroque Canon in D (RE) mayor of Johann Pachelbel from the late '600 adapted to the late '900 Paula custom Chip... Nice!
strange to say, while the C64 had plenty of games with classical music (one over all, Trolls and Triboulations), Amiga had very few... This is the only one i recall now... Ah and the Magnetic Field (Lotus) intro, someone sayd that was from Wagner...
PS: i was forgetting the intro from Millenium 2.2, it's the Adagietto from the 5th simphony of Gustav Mahler if i dont mistake, popularized by the movie "Death in Venice"

I have never really got into this one. A bit strange and far too complex.

Probably the most complex game i've played on Amiga. But it's great even nowadays.

9/10 : What a great game !
The graphics were nice (very original), the music is amazing, and the game engine is just great !
I only played the easy stages, but just managing the development of the base was great fun !

Cool game!

Good game - was quite difficult on the hard stages when you just got pummelled all the time. Great music too. Used to love the NOT ENOUGH COLONISTS AVAILABLE FOR CONSTRUCTION message, and raising the quality of life was a great idea.

I used to really like this, I used to just sit and listen to the music in it more often than not.

Good game. Liked it. A bit like Sim-City-in-Space

I found it rewarding watching my cities successfully fend off alien attacks. On the flip side though I did want to see my forces hammer the alien city and, unfortunately, that wasn't an option. Still you got to see that in the under rated sequel K240.

An Incredible good stratey game. Damned Lucratians and Vanacancia... Does anybody menage to beat those evil races?

One of the first strategy-games of this ilk. Many games were based on this after it got released. The good graphics, the brilliant soundtrack and the never boring gameplay make this an excellent game! Utopia has so much in it, that it really deserves all the praising it got back in the early nineties!
Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 9/10
Playability: 8/10
Overall: 9/10
p.s.: MartinUK: You are right! Thanx for the correction! Civilization, a game THIS is based on probably is one of the best (and maybe THE best) strategy-game of all time! But this one is very good too! Cheers!

The PC version of Civ came out before this Steef, so I doubt either one influenced each other. This takes ideas from Populous and Sim City, as well as a few bits of its own (the emphasis on resource management is similar to the later Command & Conquer type games) to create an enthralling and likable game in its own right. The sort-of-sequel K240 is a little better though.
