War Zone is a decent Ikari Warrior / Commando clone. It has the late 80's arcade game look and feel and it plays like it should. It is almost surely an ST port and then it has some slowdowns when there is a lot going on the screen but it is still fun, especially when played with a friend (6/10).

Highly polished, arcade quality game from Core Design.
A Mercs/Commando clone, but so well done it's probably the best on the Amiga of its type.

Classic action shooter.

I was never into this sort of action shooters but this game is the only one that I can play for(/since) years. The balance of the weapons is great.

A nice shoot 'em up.
One of the first games on my Amiga 500+.
I love the title tune.

I remember I enjoyed this one a LOT back in the day, and would say it's way more than just a "decent" Mercs/Ikari/Commando clone. I thought the cartoonish graphics were really stylish, and I loved the explosions.

Decent shoot'em up, very good for two players. Of course it has its flaws: miserable sound, lack of music during the game. It is also quite difficult especially when you lose energy and weapon power (and after that the weapon itself) with hits of the enemy guns.

Simple but incredibly enjoyable multiplayer game

Well we all know many top-down shooters like Ikari warriors , Commando , Mercs , Rambo II , Who dares wins etc. But i think this one is the best of them all . Great graphics excellent animations , sound and a High difficulty level . 10/10 for me .

Maybe good enough for 8bits, but very, very poor for Amiga standart.

Nice shoot em up, nice GFX and sound but not the best at the time

Nice 2 player game! A "commando" clone but so much better than the original! Blocky but nice graphics adequate sound and so on .in the end it plays better than it looks actually

I loved this Commando type clone. Was quite straightforward but the "must get further" factor held it for me! A nice little no brainer to stick on and enjoy anytime.

Great game - I agree that its better with two though.

Great with 2 players! Although sometimes really hard -- I remember that the enemies respawned and respawned...

War Zone is a nice vertical shooter placing you as a hardened commando in the middle of a war zone to cause mayhem. Along the way you can rescue some captured allied soldiers. Graphically War Zone is not bad at all and the game plays very nice indeed. There is enough variation in the game and quite a few weapons and powerups along the way. It's not brilliant, but heaps of fun nonetheless!
Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 7/10
Playability: 7/10
Overall: 7/10

Great shooter in the vein of Ikari Warriors and Commando, beats them both on the Amiga and stands tall on its own merits. Nice graphics, good controls, smart design and a difficulty level that, while a bit on the hard side, fitted perfectly this kind of game.

Pretty tough game to complete but at the sametime it`s great fun. Beats Ikari Warriors hands down!
