Carmen Sandiego is a fantastic series of learning games but were fairly expensive for the times. They came with a thesaurus or a dictionary (it differed with each game).
The downside with all the CS games is that they tend to use the same clues over and over, considering the vast amount of history the world, Europe,U.S.A. And so on along with the price of the game itself one has to wonder why they didn't make the game a bit more diverse.
