I agree with most others here. Graphics and music are top notch. Everyone loves level three. If you didn't already lose your weapon by now, the difficulty of level four will ruin the experience.

Wolfchild is a very solid attempt at making a console or arcade style action game on the Amiga. Graphics are low colour but very well done and they have a distinctive style. Nothing to complain about in the audio department either. Levels are well designed and the game plays much better than the games it takes inspiration from, at least in their Amiga version (Strider, Altered Beast and maybe a few others). On the downside there are a few game design flaws that affect playability in a very bad way. Unavoidable deaths and unnecessary baddies respawns after losing a life. Not to mention the one button only controls. It is good, but could have been better (7/10).

Wolfchild was one of the most "console-like" games on the Amiga platform. Good level design, good variety, good programming, good graphics with dual playfield parallax. There was also a cool transformation for the main protagonist, from man to a powerful werewolf... In my opinion Wolfchild is a very good action/platform and underrated game.

Highly underrated platformer/beat 'em up. Very polished and atmospheric.

Incredible work and fantastic level design and great gameplay , very hard game , you need to have a lot of patience to finished this game.
If you study this game very well , you can succeed to get 5 lives in the game , If you die on the Last level when you are werewolf , before you coming to the final boss , it is impossible to succeed.
Graphics 8/10
Soundfx/Music 9/10
Gameplay 10/10

I liked this game and have always reckoned that Amiga Power magazine underrated it - a good deceptively tough platformer with some rollocking sound and a fast pace. 8/10.

I remember this game very good!

Hmmm - so close to being a great game.
Nice transformation, cool howling sample, but so-so gameplay.
It was decent but forgettable - nowhere near the likes of Yo Joe, First Samurai or even Alien 3 for platform action.

I agree completely with Dan Locke. This game can be quite deceptive. Like alot of people I thought this game was excellent at the time (for all the points stated). Not Turrican 2 excellent but still good.
I have never got that far in the game, id say I noramlly beat the second level boss and die at the beginning of level 3. I put this down to impatience on my part.
If you try playing with a cheat you’ll find out exactly how unfair and unforgiving this game is. By level 3 you’re getting hit every 2 seconds by things coming out of the scenery that u can’t even see. The main character is totally weak and useless. As Dan said, by level 4 the game is unplayable (my opinion level 3). And I think that’s all the levels to the game!
I suggest playing the Mega CD version. It’s got smoother gfx with a superior palette, a great CD soundtrack and most importantly the gameplay has been tweaked and actually made fair. I believe there are some extra levels as well.
My score: when I first saw it 8/10
Now: 4/10

On the surface, this is a good game. There's an animated intro sequence (albeit a rather mediocre one), cool music, parallax-scrolling graphics rendered well enough to hide their low-color nature, and plenty of dark, futuristic atmosphere. Saul's also a pretty neat character when he's in his werewolf form.
However, despite these good points, it's severly flawed. As in many other platform games, a hit from an enemy knocks Saul back, briefly paralyzing him. He can still get injured, though, leading to cycles of getting hit over and over again until the impacts push him out of the way. Often, this causes him to ricochet between hazards like a pinball until he dies. This is bad enough on its own, but Saul's pitifully underpowered attack strength, coupled with his inability to use powerups - or even shoot - without a nearly full health bar, pushes the game over the edge. By the fourth level, it's practically unplayable.
Shame. This could have really been something.

One of the best platformers ever made... People speak highly of Shadow of the Beast games and so on but I prefer this to be honest. It had better graphics and better music.

Apart from Psygnosis, the guys of Core Design had made very cool intros. But also the game is a very good one. Particularly the Japanese stye of the program looks awesome. A worthy challenger for the 'Turrican' saga, indeed...

This game is like an ambassador of times, where core design made good games. A really great example of core design.

It's like a cross between Shadow of the Beast and Altered Beast. There are jumping puzzles but nothing that will have you pull your hair out. It can get addictive. Save State option comes in handy with this one!

I quite liked this game, nice graphics and solid gameplay, I loved the creepy insect-infested level with its cool background tune. Core always struck me as a bit of an underrated company. I think this came out first on Sega CD.

Enjoyable action platformer. Nothing overly special but a fun game nonetheless.

Above-average platformer with attractive parallax-scrolling, reasonable (if slightly colourless) graphics and a nice 'werewolf' theme.

Great game and just the kind of stylish platformer that I loved back in the 16 bit days. Thought the intro was embarrasingly badly drawn though.

Very cool intro and really nice game! Although it was a bit too difficult for me...

This looked and sounded fine and, more importantly, was really enjoyable and even quite addictive. In fact, it played so nice you just couldn't help and go on to see what was going to come up on the next level. Cool.

I really really liked this game! So much that I've completed it many times. The graphics were very good and there was a very high level of detail. Watch the hair of Wolfchild in level 1 for example! It reacts perfectly to the wind! The game breathed atmosphere. Being a fan of the Turrican-series I cant help to compare it to this masterpiece. Wolfchild isn't that good, but it's getting there. In-game music is also brilliant! And most important, it plays like a dream! So, a very very good platform-shooter with hardly any flaws!

Similar to another Core´s game (like Premiere) - intro was good, rest was boring. And the most annoying is absolutelly stupid restart points system.
