Some slow down , BUT The rythm is excellent just as the graphics & sounds. It's hard to explain but this game is nervous and orgasmic to play. The only shoot i still play today along with blood money.

Memories! This had so captivating music that it definately influenced my own music at the time when I started. And a great game as well!

We're in january 1990 and two of the most impressive shootemups this side of the new decade are about to blow my brand new Amiga oriented mind : Battle Squadron and X-Out.

Realy good shooter. Also not as hard as many other shooters I've played. The only time I really had any real problems was with the green boss where you have to go back and forth and avoiding the rockets he fires at you. Also the final boss might have been a little more impresive.

This was the first game I bought for the old Amiga. I remember at my surprise to find a poster inside, fond memories

I remember enjoying this one about a year ago. I was left with the impression [again] of just how unusual many Amiga games were--the wierd sounding alien dressed in the deep-sea diving suit and talking with his 'mechanical'-looking mouth was amusing and interesting. I thought the horizontal shooting part was challenging.

I loved this game when i got it! It was the first shooter on the amiga that I really enjoyed, with a mood that was set brilliantly from the intro!

This game was great on the C64, but the Amiga version doesn't do it justice. The level designs aren't nearly as good, and the graphics are terrible, with no parallax scrolling and tiny, sloppy-looking sprites.
Still, it's a decent shoot-em-up, and it's certainly better than drivel like The Oath and Ziriax. The core of the gameplay is still there, and the music is hugely improved from the C64 original's. Worth playing for shoot-em-up fans.

Better than most shooters on the amiga. Lovely graphics and sound, tough spot on difficulty level and excellent tool up system. If you're good enough you can amass quite a few ships for the later levels. 8/10

The whole "buy ships and equip them yourself" idea is interesting and adds a tactical element to the game (do you buy one powerful ship, or a few weaker ships?) but is completely wasted on an absolute pig of a game. It's too difficult, lacks character and the level design is bland and boring. Could have been a decent game but it's all so carelessly put together. Shame really.

On C64 it might be impressive but on Amiga it is poor shooter. The most annoying thing is that you have just one life and after you lose it (which is not so difficult as you can imagine) once again and again you need to equip your ship...

Very good shooter with great music, if only you could see the difference between background graphics and things to avoid a bit better. Mailman above me is wrong: you can have more than one life, you just need to buy more ships in the shop.

I prefer it on Z-out and I was really disappointed when I discovered Z-out was not X-out 2 but just an R-Type Clone...

So amazing at first sight (intro, Level 1), but after the first level it became way below average and somehow disappointing. I enjoyed the C64 version much more then.

The pirate version I had featured less levels than the real game. Looked cool but I did not play this so much really. One of the best shoot 'em ups anyway.

X-out was great fun and really exciting ...
Remember the last levels where a bit boring ( maybe undone

Never got that far in this game as very difficult but maybe im just crap at it. Anyway still a good game and lots of weapon upgrades and good intro scene.
spidy score : 6/10

I owned the C64 version.. And the game rocked! One of the best shooters on the C64! So when I upgraded to an A500 it was one of the first to buy only to find out that the A500 version was one of the same only with more colours, that wasn't so bad.. But not that good either.. I still remember the C64 game though..

Good shooter from Rainbow Arts, nice intro as well. Quite a difficult game but a solid shooter nonetheless.

Decent horizontal blaster that held its own with the likes of R-type & Salamander on the NES. Just seeing the weapon select screenshot gets me reminnissing. Yes, another word I shall not even attempt to spell correctly, though I am fairly certain there's a C in it somewhere.

Cool, but hard shooter with a nice weapon-upgrade shop!

This one goes squarely in the category I call "classic hard-core shooters". It's not a forgiving game in any sense nor does it need to be. The gritty and emotional music matches the creative and precise graphics. Still lovin' those weapons!

I enjoyed playing it, and that's the objetive of a game

For me this was a much better game and more fun to play than R-Type.
