A good evolution of the lemmings series in my opinion, with larger better animated characters, tools to pick up and use, unlimited commands such as jump, block, change direction etc and characters to kill or avoid!
These were new features not seen in previous incarnations.
The puzzles were taxing and enjoyable much as before.
Only downside was only 3 different tribes but I dont think it was as massive
a fault as people make out.
Also despite being AGA only it didn't really seem to push those machines as much as I'd have liked.
However, ignore all the scathing comments below ,(they must've been written by avid Amiga Power fans and devotees)- this was a good evolution in the series and worth 8/10 for me🙂

After two installments, the third one could be done in so many ways but the one which was chosen is horrible. Concept of giving the lemmings more intelligence seems like a good idea. They can change directions, block the way or jump in an unlimited number of times but unfortunately the rest of what they can do is rather cumbersome attempt to give the game "a fresh start". It does not work, it makes you irritated and even the option of marking the specific lemmings does not help much. It could have been good, it turned out average. AGA requirements are the necessity of the times when the game was published but the game does not offer much in terms of using the chipset.

A harsh lesson in how to take a perfect formula and screw it up. Even the devs admitted that it wasn't their best work and it was just chucked out to meet their obligations to Psygnosis. Boiling the abilities down to their base conditions whilst making the skills pickups now introduces a load of problems such as trying to work out which lemming has the skill you need, or losing a lemming that has picked up the only tool on the level. Infuriating and not really worth your time.

Nah! What a let down. In my humble opinion, this doesn't hold a candle next to the original. Just didn't do it for me. Looked and sounded like a professional product and all, but the fun just wasn't there...

I'm more familiar with this from the MS-DOS version, where it got both a floppy disk release, and a CD-ROM release with redbook music. Over in North America, it was titled "The Lemmings Chronicles", which I always thought was a better name!

It doesn't demand such painstaking pixel-precision in timing and clicking, or obscure knowledge of particular quirks/glitches, as the earlier games tend to, which makes it much more enjoyable. You're given greater control over the lemmings, too (you can toggle Blockers, and can turn lemmings around while they're walking, for example), and you can right-click to highlight particular lemmings that you want to keep an eye on.

There are also enemies prowling some levels, which adds a bit more variety in addition to the by-now-expected grisly traps.

The graphics are well-made, with nicely-detailed scenery and well-animated sprites which look very cute-and-cuddly indeed, and which have a lot of polish - such as Blockers teetering on a ledge if you set them to their task there! Great, and very atmospheric, music, too. The manual is also very entertaining in its own right, filled with lots of humourous scene-setting and flavour-text - it's a real treat if you're a fan of the Lemmings series' mythos!

All in all, the additions and changes don't, in my mind, detract from the formula, and it's a shame that this engaging sequel is as little-known as it is!

This is an interesting game. It's so very different to all the other games in the series, yet fun in it's own way. In this one, you don't start with many skills. The ones you do have (walking, turning, blocking, jumping, etc.) are unlimited, but if you want to build, dig, etc. You're going to have to find bricks or a shovel somewhere on the level to do so, and then you have a certain amount of times you can do this.

While I don't quite enjoy the gameplay in this one as I do to the previous Lemmings games in the series, in all fairness I do actually find this game to be incomparable to the others. The downside is that it's so unalike, so fans may be disappointed. But once I got into it I still enjoyed it, just for different reasons to the other Lemmings games.

Like Lemmings 2, this game also has the save/load options rather than passwords, and the ability to re-visit previous levels. I really like this about it.

Since it's not like other Lemmings games, probably the main mistake was making this a proper Lemmings game. If it had been called something else and had different characters it might have not got as much attention, but probably would have been liked and enjoyed by more.

Okay, one time I played Oh No! More Lemmings, and I thought it was an awful Lemmings spin-off, but no, no, no, no ,no. I was dead wrong. This game is awful. The only thing I liked was the peppy jungle drum tunes at the menu, and the crack intro which I'd rather stay on. Not even a 9 year old kid who uses his parents Amiga, playing some of the best or better games on the computer whould've think this is impressive.

OK the gfx are nicer and everything is bigger. But the level design is bad and the gamepley simpler than on the original Lemmings. It's a shame even if I cannot resist a 2D Lemmings game (don(t talk about 3D for this kind of games).

ANWOL was an appaling game, easily the worst 2D Lemmings game ever released.

I think this Lemmings game was OK but then again most of them were that. OK

The GFX were OK, you had bigger sprites, smae style of music very upbeat and happy go like, gameplay was more or less the same with some added touches

This is probably the weakest of the Lemmings games - 3D Lemmings is far better, as are the first 2. This one featured contrieved levels, not enough different features, annoying monsters which were completely against the spirit of a puzzle game, making it too dependent on random timing, and the larger graphics took away more than they added.

Psygnosis finally got it right here! Its seems from the lack of comments, this was unknown to many, I remember I enjoyed the new design and gameplay. This beats Lemmings 2 - The Tribes and even that terrible Lemmings 3D. Its was nice for nostalgia reasons with enhanced 2D graphics which I thought was easier with the enlarged lemmings. And that was just 1996! .. Ah the good old days.... XI
