I started this game from....a staple of borrowed games (ehm) and thought that I know Barbarian II, the game from the C64 with the big Chicken and other strange enemys and you always fall into big holes.
Then I was amazed...wow, what a great High-res graphic at the start, what a great song on the title image! (My version had no intro

Pretty and well animated but the gameplay was very average indeed, to the point of being quite dull

Psygnosis games always looked very impressive when you looked at the screenshots on the box. When I saw the last remaining Amiga store in my city had only one copy left, I could not resist and bought it on a whim.

Attacks are very smooth, and innovational, I was amazed when I played this. But levels are bit boring.

What I liked about this game was it's non-linear layout in a way that resembles Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. This means that instead of starting at A and ending at B you walk back and forth through the territory and visit different places as you progress in the game. It's not as good as Simon's Quest but it's decent enough to be worth playing and completing.

Great improvement thinking about his predecessor. The movements are smooth, the graphics are fine, and the sound is good. I like the use of inventory, the variety of weapons (which also break !)... At first glance, it looks like a mediocre game, but it is not. I recommend it.

Well, there was better stuff by this time on Amiga. But I was happy with this sequel and played it to completion. Pretty easy, actually. Perhaps better programmed than the original. I loved those werewolves!

I'd never played the original, so came to this fresh and enjoyed it a lot. The gameplay is pretty smooth. Graphics look decent. There's a good variety of weapons you can find, and a shop for upgrades. It can be a little tiring running around the forest or city not knowing where you're going. All in all it was fun enough to come back to. The difficulty isn't too hard either.

What a sad attempt to gather from the popularity of barbarian genre. This reminds me most the 8-bit game "Beyond the Ice palace", but that was much much better than Barbarian 2

Well, I had been expecting a sequel to Psygnosis' excellent Barbarian. It wasn't. Just a clumsy action game that borrowed a couple of gameplay elements, but without the very special icon interface of the original, the magic was gone.
Barbarian's only sequel is Obliterator.
