SBII (although good) doesn't matter!
This first installment was even more enjoyable, mostly because it was a hundred times more atmospheric and with infinitely more personality and uniqueness than the much-much "Contra/Gryzor meets Strider"-inspired sequel.

An OK game, but relatively unremarkable. Gets repetitive quite early on, and it becomes a slog without any save game feature or level passwords.

Nice atmosphere, same grey brick graphics and rather awkward combat get tedious. If you like explore 'em-ups then this shouldn't disappoint though.
The music is brilliant.

Sequel is better.

Yes, really a nice platformer. But if I have to choose I'd prefer 'Switchblade II'...

A fine platformer that has an atmosphere of its own.

I really liked this one, I think it was the way each screen suddendly appeared as you got close to it and there was little secret bits! Small, cute and very playable.

One of my all time favourites and a game I'm remaking from scratch too. I love this game a lot. Great mix of platform beat 'em up and exploration. Graphics perhaps could have been a bit less drab though. The music on the other hand was great and I still listen to it through Deliplayer today. Only problems I had were the slightly clumsy jumping and the iffy collision detection that could cause poor Hiro to get dragged around with the badguy and lose all his energy. Other than those flaws its superb.

Better than Switchblade II and better than Rick Dangerous.

Jump over the platforms, explore the hostile environment, fight the baddies: nothing's missing from this little gem, Switchblade's really a game worth rescuing.
