I'm shocked that Chrono Quest got such a bad score. The graphics are quite nice and the puzzles are fairly logical compared to other point and click adventure titles out there.

Great great underrated game! This was one of the founding fathers of graphic adventure genre. It was my faviourate game as a kid, and I still have a huge soft spot for it (and any lucasarts adventure of course ).

The beatiful atmospheric graphics and great music by David Whittaker helped, but the game was also a really well put together graphic adventure, with mostly logical puzzels and an interesting storyline.

The story takes place across various times and places (i.e. You time travel), which the game makers took advantage of by creating detailed mini-worlds for you to explore -- think a very early myst.

PS. I didn't have that much of an issue with the copy protection?

This game had one of the Absolutely Worst Copy Protection "Features" Ever. You had to load the game for several minutes. The use a transparent grid that came in the box and place it over the front of the box. It would randomly give you a grid location, then ask you for the colour in that grid. The vast majority of the time there would be multiple colours in that square. (it is a box cover graphic after all). So you tried to "Guess" which colour they think is most prominent in that square and enter it. OOPS! Wrong answer, you machine in now locked. Power it down, reboot and load for several minutes and try again... And again... This still stands out for the combination of "Stupid Extreemes" in Copy Protection and Unbelievably boring game play.

One of those peaceful adventures from the late eighties that felt quite atmospheric. Translation wasn't perfect however. 6/10
