Slow and sluggish. Generally speaking I think that there was not a single Amiga game with isometric view that was fast. It is always a source of all the problems and in FIFA they became so apparent. Nice audio-visuals, very interesting and unique options but the whole is barely playable.

We were very enthusiastic with my friends when we first saw the game. But that was it... Nice graphics mean nothing if the game is not playable. I actually thought they were skating, not playing football. 4/10

Didn't like this at all. Hideously unfriendly and a git to get into with long loading times. And when you did it was just plain jerky and confusing. I'm sure the Amiga could do better than this... 4/10

Very slick-looking and well-presented but it plays like a brick. There doesn't appear to be a great deal of skill involved, or indeed, there doesn't appear to be much feeling of having any control over what actually happens. The console versions weren't especially good to start with and it hasn't aged gracefully at all. SWOS still rules, and if you want a more isometric-viewed effort, then Total Football is a much better game.

Reading through the comments and seeing the score I was a bit puzzled, I couldn't recall the issues that were being raised until I saw the comment about playing on A1200 with 2 button controller, it's amazing to me that someone would go and spend £30 on a game and whine about it not playing well with only a one button joystick, I mean, the CD32 controllers weren't that expensive! Not having an A1200 is more understandable, but fairs fair, you were never going to get far in the PC games scene (back then and still today) by complaining that Quake ran crappy on your 286. The A500 was amazing, but it still had its limits, it's a shame that this game gets criticised for being targeted at a greater machine, although maybe EA copped out and really should have only made this A1200 AGA only but decided against it to try and catch more sales.
Anyway, after all that being said it wasn't the best football game of all time but it was pretty decent IMHO.

Well it was a flop on the Amiga (I'm not sure if I even played a demo) but then I didn't like the console versions anyway! I can't remember whether it was on a SNES or a Megadrive at a friend's house, but I just didn't find it playable. As I remember, you could just hold down the shoot button and score from the half way line.

At the time the graphics looks really good and I couldn't wait to play it. But the control system was horrid, good old EA!

I hate this game! You couldn't even controll it with the keyboard. Everything about this game is garbage. You could shoot from 50 meters and the ball would drop into the net. The players don't have any skills, just dribbling and shooting. A really bad game...

Play the damn game with 2-button joypad/stick and A1200 like EA recommended and stop bitching.

So much hype, this game. It looks right but plays wrong.

In fairness, EA recomended an A1200 and 2-button controllers, so there's no point moaning that it's slow on an A500. I never really liked the Megadrive game, as it felt so stilted and watered-down, and this is far from a perfect conversion, but an average of below 5 is unfair.

Don't be fooled by the pretty graphics and big-name branding, this game was ruined by the horrible scrolling and unresponsive controls. Do not miss the megadrive version though, its much, much better.

This basically was always meant to be designed for the console platforms, such as the megadrive. It played horribly on the Amiga I thought and it didn't live up to its expection, though we were re-kindled with such gems like Sensible Soccer and Football Glory.

Joypad with atleast 2 buttons was the key to playability. And a faster Amiga (A1200) wouldn't be bad either.

Looked as good as the enjoyable Megadrive original, but as soon as it started moving it suddenly transformed into a terrible disaster. The graphics engine and the controls were a total mess, and thus rendered FIFA Soccer on the Amiga virtually unplayable.

The megadrive version of this game is completely devoid of skill. Any attempt to play these early versions of FIFA in a skillful fashion is mercilessly punished as your button bashing mate (who may not even be looking at the screen) puts goal after goal past your keeper. The megadrive version is also of course much better than this version. My favourite Amiga football game as it turned out ended up being Wembley Soccer AGA.

Megadrvie version was entertaining arcade footy but the Amiga conversion was an absolute nightmare. As if choppy graphics weren't bad enough the controls were truly out of this world. You had to use keyboard with joystick to pull off the moves. It was just as bad as it sounds.
