Jerky scrolling that hurts your eyes and endless disk swapping.
Very poor controls, down + fire to jump up.
I don't think I need to go on... 2/10

The NES version is indeed much better, that one isn't even running at full frame rate which is a shame (it's coded in C) while the original one was much smoother, most of the gfx look finer on the Nintendo console version (and better drawn) and even the 8 bit's music is better than this st-01 samples crap. Also having a 2 buttons joypad really helps with the gameplay. As i remember the beat-'em up coin-op conversion equally sucks and it wouldn't have reached the potential interest of that game anyway. Note that it can be installed on a HD. All in all it's just another wasted opportunity of having a good and immersing action/adventure game a la Japanese on the Amiga.

Difficult, but i still managed to complete the game.
Was pretty fun.

As for disks, I had 3 drives back in the day
And WinUAE doesn't care either.

Controls are annoying, the scrolling a mess. Plus you have to be a disk jockey to handle the 3 disks... (40%)

Back in the early 90s every Amiga owner under the age of 12 would have killed for this game. Quite possibly a lot of older people ended up playing it too since many crafty retailers cashed in on the all-consuming craze for the Turtles by giving the game away for free with Amiga hardware.

Was it worth the fuss? Not really. It was a perfectly playable side-scrolling platformer with a few overhead and underwater sections but never rose above average. The most annoying thing was that the graphics had barely been upgraded from the NES version, and compared to other games of the era Turtles looks very shoddy in places.

Overall it's certainly not a disaster but a conversion of the NES game seemed an odd choice when the Amiga was more than capable of reproducing Konami's excellent Turtles coin-op. Indeed, the arcade game was converted a couple of years later, and if (for some reason) you want a Turtles game on your Amiga that's the one to go for.

I loved this game, back in the day when the turtles were the biggest thing I loved the different types of level and the qwerky feeling that went with it.

The NES game this is based on is great and has a lot more depth to it than the side scrolling fighter arcade game. Which is great since this titles only 1player compared to the 2player (NES) and 4player(arcade) games. Unfortunately this game wasn't converted that well to Amiga and loses a lot of the gameplay of the original. If ya wanna play this you're better off finding a NES emulator and play that version.

Sirbennet is right. The original NES version is a true classic. It has a perfect playability, good music and also very good graphics for NES standards. There are two versions of this game for Amiga, one by Probe and another by Unlimited Software. Probe version is even faster done. I remember it better, I only tried this Unlimited Software version for few times. Probe version missed most of music from NES and also four turtles were identical of their fighting abilities. The game was also unbelievably easy, while original NES version was not easy at all. Unlimited Software version had at least all the music from the original plus some gameplay left.

The People who wrote those reviews before me were all idiots!!! Okay, granted, the Amiga version of this game probably sucks. Granted, I have only played the Nintendo and DOS versions. Granted, anyone who strayed away from consoles during the time of Ninja Gaiden, the Legend of Zelda, Punchout, etc. Etc. Etc. Was probably mentally disabled and looking for disappointment anyway. I grant all these things. What I do not accept is these dillusional people who are unable to recognize what an incredible game the NES version of Ninja Turtles was. Yes, it's not as good as the later arcade game, but few games are. What we have is a bizarre, challenging adventure game which borrows heavily from the flavor of classic turtles comics. By level 3, after successfully disarming the bombs at the dam, one of the most exciting challenges ever in an early videogame, you will discover an open ended city to explore and many challenges to overcome. This is a stunning example of a platform-action adventure, and the peeps who cannot recognize what an amazing thing that was for its time are totally crazy and should be lobotomized. Anyways, check out the NES version, especially if you are interested in games that were ahead of their time and totally cool. Goodbye for now, from Bennet.

The arcade game was, and still is great fun. This is not. Not even the superior original NES version. It is frustrating as all hell. As ALL HELL. See AVGN.

Pure crap, as the scoring chart quotes for a vote of 1. And this game totally deserves it, really. Atrocious graphics, weak sounds and, more importantly, an uninspired, dull and boring gameplay, which didn't get any better in the transition from the NES to the Amiga. Avoid this, please.

On the NES, where this game was born, TMNT was already a very weak game. Now take a weak 8 bit design, add extremely uninspired graphics (that look just slightly better, and in some cases worse, than their 8 bit forebearers) and you have a game that could even make the angels of gaming mediocrity cry out in pain at the horrid mockery destiny had bestowed upon us.
