This came out very late and as such as overlooked a lot. Meanwhile I spent more time with this game than with Beholder. While I still believe Beholder to be better overall I have warmer feelings towards CD. It was very thought out game and I liked little things it did to improve the dungeon crawling formula.
I don't believe the riddles were as ridiculously hard as people claim, since I solved them back as a kid. Still I was veeery patient kid and spent long time with this one.

If you get stuck at the 'Pressure Plate' puzzle, the solution is a logical path which leads towards the door you need to open. You only need to stand on each pressure plate once, the next one in the sequence is ajoining the last. If you stand on the wrong one, the puzzle resets, listen to the sounds.

For those who would like a little help with this game, Jens Bischoff's old walkthrough (from 2002) has been translated into English from the German version. You can find all the document links here for each level.

Please bear in mind that it is not a perfect translation, but a great help nevertheless.
Have fun, Ian Lewis (CD game designer)

This is a very good game until you come to the pressure plates puzzle. There wasn't really any logical thought in this puzzle, and you basically had to run up and down, left and right until a door opened. I did manage to complete this one, but I don't know if I would return to it like I would Captive, Eye of the Beholder and Dungeon Master. All those said three games are classics, this game; just a very good DM clone.

If you could finish Dungeon Master with your eye's closed, beat Chaos Strikes Back to the wall, felt some what let down by Dungeon Master II then Crystal Dragon was here to see the Amiga out as the Jewel in the Crown of RPG - Dungeon Crawling.
The creators knew we were all Dungeon Masters so what they did with this was to turn the game upside down, inside out, stick a knife in where it hurts the most and kept twisting until there were no more wall's left to build a dungeon! Yes, this game is MASSIVE and very tricky even for Dungeon Pro's. Your worst nightmares that never made it into DM are here in floor design. Using a rope added an extra dimension knowing it may get you some where cool and with a teleport skull could you maybe help your self out from the 5 floors you just dropped down. Thank the makers they added a Magic Map!
This game will keep you on your toes for hours and you will be on the edge of your seat wondering what, when and where next every step of the way. As a Dungeon Master Clone this game is a fitting end of that era for the Amiga knowing that the game that started it all, Dungeon Master was originally called Crystal Dragon!
I feel this has been over looked by the majority of DM fans, for being too hard? Who knows... Still, Crystal Dragon in my collection will always shine as the Dungeon Master of them ALL.

It is nice to see how many games of these type were created for the Amiga.. This one came in late A500 life (1994) and looks like a low budget production. It's normal because by that time the A500 market was small and the profit should be less!

Played this for hours and got lost many a time so the old mapping pen and paper came out! I was really enjoying getting into this game then I came up against an obstacle I just couldn't get past! Great for a while tho.

Yeah... Crystal Dragon.. The first time i played this game it was a demo of a CU Amiga game disk.
I was hooked from the first time. I always searched for this game in the old times but never found it. And many years later after the Amiga died i still haven't forgot about this game.
It Looks like Eye of the Beholder but yet it's differend. I've tried to complete this game now for the second time with Winuae, i hope i will reach the lowest level of the crypt this time. This game, for me, is so great, maybe im going to write a review about it when i finnish the game.
A MUST try for old skool RPG lovers!

This game was HUGE! Me and my brother tried several times over the years to complete it but I think we got stuck somewhere and gave up, favouring other games. It was addictive though, and very well thought out. The graphics were good enough, so was the sound, and the music was original. One day I'll complete it! I vow to!

Not as good as Beholder, but definitely worth a try. I got completely stuck in one of the later levels and never completed it.
