Really impressed with the pixel art in Carcharodon. Some of the boss sprites and level backgrounds are among the best work created for Amiga shoot 'em ups. Also, I have been listening to the highscore theme for years: a great track.

The title music just rules!! Graphics in some levels mindblasting! But overall it's just not nice to play it.

Wonky shooting and powerup controls, repetitive and dull level design, mediocre graphics and music, and a very nice title screen (if one ignores the rather plagiaristic logo).

Don't bother; play Disposable Hero or Apidya instead.

Gave my thumb a hard workout [couldn't get the auto-fire to work right].
High rating on the graphics, though I wish there were more of the colorful screens/levels.
Low on play--you just hold the button down. Some of the obstacles were moving so fast (especially on the last level), they were all but impossible to keep from crashing in to.

The game's logo looks like Metallica's logo design.

Today, I played this game to the end and I can say that graphically this is one of the most beautiful horizontal shoot 'em ups on the Amiga. Some may disagree with this, but I think that the minimalistic graphical style in Carcharodon is stunning with a graphical detail not seen often in a shooter. For example the Alien-level's background is just amazing and also the final evil baddy is a treat for the eyes. There are also many different enemy units to shoot at, but most of the attack waves are going at bit to fast so really enjoying them is sometimes difficult. The sounds are good. Some nice variation in weapon sounds and explosions. The gameplay is a bit tame and not that diverse. Because everything moves so fast it is mostly keeping the fire button pressed and move a bit. The different weapons are very nicely done and I thought the sounds were great. I thought I recognized some samples from Star Wars. All in all, this is a beautifully designed space shooter which is lacking a bit in playability and originality. Still, definitely worth a try!

Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 7/10
Playability: 6/10

Overall: 7/10

My first buy for the Amiga. Amazing GFX, crap gameplay. Never buy a game by its cover...
