I loved Birds of Prey when I got it, it was playable on a stock A1200. When I upgraded to an 060 however it really came alive - super-smooth framerates and handling really made each aircraft feel unique (once "easy" mode was turned off of course). Another big jump in playability for me was compatibility with analogue joysticks. Coupled with the high framerate, it made for a supremely playable flight sim that I played to death.

A well made game with good graphics and some excellent effects. Amiga hardware at that time was too slow to properly render flight simulations. If the frame rate had been higher, I would have enjoyed Birds of Prey. It's a bit of a shame. Maybe nowadays I could try an emulator to up the game speed.

Despite the detail of its graphics, "Birds of Prey" is by far more superior than your average flight simulator. The fact that you can choose 40 planes to fly is a good enough reason why. Show me another flight simulator with such a large variety of selections, and 'maybe' I will rethink my review...

How this is not more highly rated I have no idea!
Easily the best flight sim on the amiga.

Loved this game more than it probably deserved. Huge range of planes to use, loved flying all those obsolete Soviet jets. Would have been almost perfect with a campaign save option though.

This was my favorite flight sim. Thanks for the SFX Steve
It was fun seeing how much damage you could do in one mission.

I happened upon this page and just had to comment. Seeing this intro again has really brought back some happy memories as it was me who did the sound effects
Thanks again for bringing a nostalgic smile to my face

Not the best flight simulator out at the time however it had a vast array of aircraft to choose from and planty of missions.

Other than Duke Nukem Forever, I think this had been the longest time taken to develop a game in the history of computer games

There were better flight sims on the Amiga, but Birds Of Prey had alot of extra which none others had. I spent alot of hours on this one. And I will spend more. Great missions, alot of planes. Cool campain game.

Very cool intro! But although you can fly more than 40-or-so different airplanes, it never made so much fun like Interceptor, Falcon or others...

I guess I am alone in saying this, but Birds of Prey was probably my favourite modern flight simulator, purely because it took flying so seriously, yet still managed to addict me without turning me off from all the extra details that I had to comprehend. The game is ruthless and unforgiving - one missile hit, and you are probably a goner. At the same time, it always compelled me to learn more - to pick up flight tactics to get a hand up in dogfights, to learn all the functions that were available to me (almost every button on the keyboard does something.) There are tons of planes and missions to choose from, too. As you might guess, the game is incredibly hard, but also attractive, to flight sim purists and more casual flight simmers like me. Oh, and the intro is very cool.

That's odd, I never knew this game even got finished and released. Seems it is available on the Amiga nonetheless ...
