Decent Mario Kart imitation with fast colourful graphics and slick presentation although hardly outstanding.
Not sure why though it had to come on a whopping SIX disks! And even worse not recognise a second disk drive!!! 7/10

I bought this back in the day in the hope of a "Mario Kart on the Amiga" experience. I tried to like it but deep down I didn't like it. I was content with the graphics, the cartoon feel, the box art etc, and it was nice to have something of the genre to get a fix. But I always felt this type of pseudo-3D scrolling, that had been done to death over the years, seemed inadequate for this type of game. Maybe it's because it means there are no corners, just long gentle curves (one the same as the next), which in turn means the tracks must be long and meandering in order to start and finish at the same place, instead of being intimate in scale. There's no sense at all of learning and getting good at a particular track, each is just a series of gentle curves strung together in it-makes-no-difference order, with different graphics. Plenty (most?) other pseudo-3D racing games of the era have the same issue, but (i) this was one of the later ones and so the system was getting tired and (ii) expectations were higher as a result of what it was trying to mimic.

But then again, XTReme Racing shows the system requirements to get a proper 3D track (i.e. An accelerated A1200 with extra RAM at least). So B&B is not terrible within the confines of the tech; it's probably about as good as it could have been in the circumstances.

Oh but the additional loading and disk swopping it foists on you just to show the grid before and the podium after each race - why?

I really wanted to like it and ended up hating it. Bump 'n' Burn at first glance has everything going for it: nice character designs, colorful artwork, some catchy tunes and nice ingame scrolling. Yet, the gameplay felt lacking.

Technically brilliant but lacking in the playability department, which is what really counts. It could have been "Mario Kart for the Amiga" but it ended up being just an average racer. Too bad.
My brother was quite fond of it, though...

A very colourful and very slick in design but unfortunately it has nothing more to show. The races are dull and somewhat "flat". I have a feeling that camera is too low and it makes the whole game artificial. The idea of weapons is nice but apart from some turbos and projectiles there is nothing really useful. The most annoying things are flying enemies and cliffs above which you have to jump. If you fail jumping or an enemy catches you, you just fall down and lose the distance to the rest of the opponents. The game is average. You should give it a try just to see how beautifully drawn graphics were wasted by lack of playability.

I just loved the presentation and Wacky Races rip-off characters, although they created expectations that the run-of-the-mill gameplay couldn't exactly live up to: every car played the same and the differences were mostly cosmetic.

If each car had its own special features and the rubberband effect were less pronounced, we would have quite a memorable racing game. Also, make sure to play it from the WHDLoad install, or you'll run out of patience before even finishing the first race.

Totally unoriginal but that wouldn't matter if it was good. Sadly the courses are too sprawling and dull, with very little happening. The AI seems a little cheaty and the characters lack, well, character. It's bright and colourful and everything, and it is fun to start with but there's not a lot of appeal long-term, even with two players.

Good, entertaining game! I don't care if it's a rip off of mario kart. It was fun all the way! (80%)

Not good as Mario Kart but close too. The main difference is the lack of characters you recognize in this game. Technical it's the same game.

Obvious Mario Kart wannabe. It was nice to look at and play but there were really nothing special about the game to lift it up to par with Nintendo's classic. Extra special mention must go to Bucktooth beaver bros. I find it hard to come up with more annoying characters.

Tried hard to be the Amiga's Mario Kart, not really close but still a fun little game. Think cartoon version of Lotus Esprit.

I really like this fast racing game. It is very innovative with a lot of exciting funny new ideas (all those bonuses, projectiles or for example crossing gate over the road). My all time favourite character was Eric the Eskimo and his Igloo express. Do you remember those annoying horrible pterodactyls in volcano circuit?
