Pretty good mashup of Ikari Warriors, Commando and the movies "The Warriors" and "Escape from New York." Certainly not a top-tier game–from what I remember the flying bullets were pretty slow–but it was still fun to try and get through the various gang factions, most of which were intentionally funny.

Like many other people, I remember the patented "Amiga guitar distortion".

One of the best Ikari Warriors-like shooters for the Amiga. Great soundtrack, although it's just a loop and very good graphics for that time and genre. The difficulty gradually gets harder. First level is a warm-up, the last levels are bullet hell.

It's ok. I've seen worse ... I've seen better ...

If you like the type of game it sure can be fun. Sadly there is no 2 player option which would make it way more enjoyable on the fly.

Amateurish, colorful graphics, but it's great fun when playing in co-op! There are many bullets on screen, almost like a modern bullet storm / danmaku kei game. New York Warriors is an underrated gem!

Mediocre. Amiga really didn't do these kinds of games very well. Best stick to the consoles if you want arcade style action.

Enjoyable Commando wannabe, with amateurish graphics but some nice black humour. As in modern bullet-hell shooters, hitboxes are considerably smaller than the sprites, thus making the action more chaotic and frenetic.

This was a real shoot'em up chaos game I remember well the distorted guitar in the music and all the explosion sounds

If you liked this game, take a look at the movie 'The Warriors'.. As the makers of the game took alot of inspiration from the movie like the baseballplayer enemies.

It's an enjoyable action game with good, adrenaline-pumping music. The graphics is chaotic at first but I enjoyed it more and more with each level. It's full of nice gags (the swarming insects above the dead bodies, the sleeping bum who suddenly wakes up and starts shooting, the bandits swarming out from the XXX-rated cinemas etc.). The gameplay is hard, even unfair sometimes (there are some places where you virtually cannot proceed without losing one or more lives), but the levels are short and you can use to your advantage that you can shoot in all eight directions and your enemies cannot. I just completed it on normal difficulty without cheating... It was hard, but not impossible.

If you like Ikari Warrios type games then you would love this, it beats IW in all areas especially music. I heard tell that there was an actual arcade game with an Amiga Board in it for this game, never been able to confirm it.
I really Enjoyed this game....

As I look at the screenshots on this page, I realise now that the game nowhere looks as good as I remember it. I played it from time to time and really liked it. It was too difficult for me though so I had to cheat.

It wasn't the best game out at the time but I loved the weapons, the gameplay & it also had some addictiveness.

Nothing special but I found myself getting drawn into the cool weapons and hectic gameplay, managed to finish it after a few attempts. By no means a bad game.

Pretty nice Ikari Warriors clone. Funny graphics, so so sonix, but much to hard! Impossible to complete without a trainer, I think. New York Warriors gives you very intense action, but it's just to much over the top!

Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 6/10
Playability: 6/10

Overall: 6/10

Didn't like this much. Mediocre mainstream action, nothing more.

Haven't played this, but it looks like it has been partially based on the movie "Warriors"...
