Hi res mode is far better, but need an Hdd installed ( physically or emulated) to run, even so it doesn't install on it.

A truly fascinating game, but also one of the biggest disappointment in terms of playability. Perhaps it was just too difficult to manage, but overall gave me a sense of not being really in control of what happened, and getting repetitive results. Also suffers in comparison with the PC version. (6)

High-Res mode works for me but I have the original, but all you should need to do is boot with your workbench 3.1 or 3.0 floppy then insert your SimEarth disk.
You can also install it to hard disk by dragging the folder icon for the version you want to your hard disk.
I never really played it much at the time I got it but have been having fun of late playing the tutorials and paying around with it on my Minimig, now I am older and can be bothered to read the quite large manual.
