Less than a year from Shadowlands, which had taken one and a half to produce, is not enough to revolutionise a game concept. Shadoworlds retains the innovative lighting system and flexible character management, and that's all well and good. There are also a few ingame GUI tweaks and an interesting firearm assembly scheme; you only have one nutrition factor to watch this time, and fortunately the booming footsteps are gone too.

However, most of the flaws are still there, from the blocky scrolling to the short command execution range, bad pathfinding and nonexistent plot (other than a The Thing knock-off at the beginning). Unfortunately, questionable gameplay choices make some of these flaws more evident than in the original. You have to sneak your party through a maze of electric fences which deal quite some damage, and not long into the game you are surrounded by monsters whose every attack is an instant kill.

Bottom line, it's slightly less interesting than Shadowlands, but if you're hard into 'more of the same' you might as well enjoy Shadoworlds.

Shadoworlds is very a different game with a very compelling yet dark (no pun intended) atmosphere. I remember reading the review in AF and was immediately drawn to this game.

It wasn't easy for a young teenager like me (well..every teen I think) to buy games at full prize in the shops and to make matters even worse it was difficult to get a hold of it through my friends/contacts.

Through some very good luck I finally could get hold of this one and soon the fun began!!!
I remember creeping through the hallways and facing the enemies. The lighting effects did really add to the whole claustrophobic feeling.
If I remember correctly you could "create" your own weapons by merging different parts of different weapons together which was very interesting.

Although micromanaging every aspect of a game can be very tedious, in this game it was fun to click around in the stats/inventory screens and adjust things to your liking. Navigating through the game world can be a tense thing because of the lighting technique which kept you from knowing what would be coming around the corner.

Although my view isn't really objective because I really love this game, I think it's still a worthy effort in bringing something different to the table which actually works.

Ashame that I never could finish this game because of fault disks

Well, I'll be the first to post. I was expecting a lot after Shadowlands and very very excited when I learned there was another game in this series. But all and all I was a little let down. Not a lot let down...just a little. Worlds is a pretty decent game for a little while but didn't quite grab me like Lands. Still, worth a try. The gameplay system still works pretty well. The graphics are just slightly less interesting.
