I remember being interested in this game for the Atari Jaguar ages ago, and when I finally got a CD32, I was excited to learn that this game originated on the Amiga. After picking it up, I was severely disappointed.
The graphics, when still, look very good, but in motion it all falls apart. Jerky, ugly scrolling is coupled with poorly animated (or should I say non-animated) sprites.
The concept is cool - it's a lot like Mutant League Football on Sega, in that you can kill opponents and use weapons. However, the biggest flaw is that it IS NOT AMERICAN FOOTBALL. It's actually rugby, which is very different from American football. Being a huge football fan in America, I can't express how disappointed I was.
Still, rugby isn't a bad sport, but the execution in this game just isn't there. At times it feels like it wants to be something sort of like NBA Jam, and at other times it feels like it wants to be taken semi-seriously. In the end, I just didn't have fun with it. I'm a big retro gamer, so it's not that I can't get into the right "of the time" mindset, I just think this game is below average. And the name is very misleading.

Can be funny but is technically poor: jerking sprites and not smooth scrolling. A pity.

Violent, funny & addictive. Loved it but I think later on we had better games to grace the likes of Amiga 1200 & CD32
