Great game. Unbelievable atmosphere and background story. Neil Dodwell and David Dew created astonishing, futuristic universum that could have been continued in many sequels. It didn't happen but we can still enjoy this title. The game is very linear and pretty logical in terms of puzzles. Unfortunately there is no in-game hints so basically if you have no idea what to do, you need try everything on anything.

Deserves the adult filter more than any pornographic game entry here on Lemon Amiga.

Dreamweb has a very powerful story. You are told by some guy in your dreams to kill seven specific people. Are you an insane killer, or the saviour of mankind? (My interpretation is that in the game, the Dreamweb actually does exist - because you can take objects out of it).

The game is set in a gritty, dark, near future, but I wouldn't classify it as cyberpunk, because for that, too many elements which can be considered essential for cyberpunk (cyberspace, cyborgs) are missing.

Overall I have very mixed feelings about this game: I really liked the story and the technical execution of the core game engine. However there are several things which ruin this game for me: you have this huge portrait of the dude on the left side, which is just silly and useless. The game simply can not decide if it just wants to tell a powerful story with easy puzzles (which would be good), or if wants to be an adventure game of the type where you have to use items in improbable combinations, multiple times, on seemingly unrelated objects to get results you wouldn't expect.

Although a very mixed bag, Dreamweb is worth spending some time with. A very interesting and atmospheric game.

How I could I forget this one!?!?!!!!
I really wanted to play an mature adventure and a mate mine said I definitely should try dreamweb.

Be warned, do not let the topdown and the somewhwat semi-colorful appearance fool you.
This game has a gripping flow which constantly made you wonder "what's next..."

The downfall of this game is (in my opinion)
- way to short
- way to easy

But besides that...a really really must-play!!!!

In a dark urban future, a broken man assassinates people upon orders issued by a sect...

I just described the setting of Fahrenheit, developed by Quantic Dream in 2005 . This proves how the atmosphere delivered by Dreamweb had a lot to teach to game designers from two generations later.

Too bad the game itself would be piece of cake (a bit like Fahrenheit on that too), if it weren't for the numerous useless objects scattered around as red herrings. Also, quite some pixel hunting is required, and the graphic style is something you may or may not like. Personally I don't, but I am very fond of the music, especially on the MS-DOS version (Fahrenheit again: unimpressive graphics and great musical score by Angelo Badalamenti).

Its place in history is deserved.

I bought a stack of empty CD cases at Walmart years ago that had the PC version of this game attached as a bonus. I remember having some kind of tech problems with it. Glad to see it got on AGA amiga. WILL be playing it on that instead...

A fantastic 'Blade Runner' style futuristic sci-fi adventure - viewed from a very odd angle. Great "adult" overtones (sex, violence), details (I'll always remember the part where somebody steals your SNEAKERS ), graphics and music. Another classic!

I finally managed to complete DreamWeb. While I still think the setting and the dark, brooding atmosphere are standout features, the story is underdeveloped, convoluted and ultimately disappointing. The accompanying booklet with the backstory is excellent, but sadly, that kind of professional writing doesn't carry over to the game.

Also, DreamWeb is short, very linear and at a few times delivers downright illogical puzzles. An example: there is a scene where Ryan has to disable a security system. In reality, there would be numerous ways to destroy a fusebox and Ryan at that point has acquired various tools he could use, yet the game forces the player to find the least obvious solution for the puzzle.

In summary, although I applaud Neil Dodwell and David Dew for creating an edgy, atmospheric and memorable - while slightly derivative and overly violent - adventure game, I really think it could have been a lot more enjoyable if the puzzles were better.

I should perhaps note that I prefer the version for MS-DOS. The music in the Amiga version is good, but the soundtrack for MS-DOS is a masterpiece.

DreamWeb is a great futuristic and dark adventure. You are assigned to kill a bunch of people who treaten the DreamWeb. You basically get new assignments after each kill untill all are sent on a one way trip to heaven. These killings are a rather bloody affair, I must say. The atmosphere is great in this adventure. The graphics are very good. Viewed from top down and every place you'll visit looks dirty and cold. There's a lot of exploring to do and almost everything can be picked up and used for something. This can be frustrating sometimes when your pockets are full (there is a limit to the amount of objects you can carry) and you haven't got a clue which item to use. But because of the fairly limited size of the game world you will get further into the game pretty easily, the puzzles are straight forward enough. I just played the PC version today and altough it's pretty similar I enjoyed the music in that version a lot! I don't like to say this as someone who favours the Amiga over the PC anytime, but the music in the PC version make a quick play on that machine worth your time! Back to the Amiga version now. If you like a futuristic adventure, which is beautifully designed, which has a nice story line and which can become pretty bloody at times, look no further!

Graphics: 7/10
Music: 7/10
Playability: 9/10

Overall: 8/10
