This game never had the recognition it deserved. It's a game that was old school way before being so had become cool. Shooters scene was moving towards FPS and danmaku and simply there was not place for a game drawing inspiration from 80's glories like Defender and Choplifter, even though it was perfectly crafted, technically impressive, fun and addictive. Hidden gem. I simply love it (8/10).

Its just a pimped Defender of course but they done a great job. If you like Defender, you will love Overkill. A little bit to hard but totally addictive.

Just played this one for the first time. The intro music is really nice however the game play is on the difficult side. You will need a joystick with auto-fire to have a chance. The game's objective of destroying the crystals becomes secondary as you can really only focus on who is attacking you. Use the cheat to finish the game. 6/10 Haywire

I would call it Amiga version of Defender. Something like Defender-NG. The game is OK but it lacks some new breathe of life into it. Authors decided to make a clean remake - no add-ons, no new ideas. Just the graphics and animations are stunning. The rest is just as good as the old Defender... Or as bad as it was. It depends on your preferences.

Overkill has smooth eyecandy but it stops there as well... I prefer Datastorm above overkill anytime...

It's like defender but brought up to date on the Amiga! Good fun for a quick game now and again.

A very fun shmup, but is it just my feeling or does it lack a little of detail.
