Oh dear! Lester 1 are you referring to a certain infamous Mr Stuart Campbell by any chance???
This was a good sequel and I rather liked the alien element but as I remember it did suffer from longer loading times and a disk save problem for some reason. 8/10

Sensible software put some overly-critical attention seeking douchebag from Amiga Power in charge of level design; an expert at judging other people's hard work very harshly.
The result? Somehow turning an amazing game engine into a poor game. Quite an achievement.
Turned out he didn't know what made a good game after all.

How do you make a sequel to an already excellent game when you don't have anything to add to it to make it better? The way Microprose did with X-COM: Terror from the Deep, for instance: let it be more of the same, with some not-so-inspired new content, only make it brutally hard right from the outset.

It's a data disk that pretends to be a sequel. There are new levels with new graphics and few new sounds but the game engine is the same. Bugs from first CF are still there (shooting through walls or whole buildings). There are also new bugs - enemy soldier standing on the ground can throw a granade on a roof of high building (very bad pseudo 3D system). Storyline is weird, some ideas are stupid (medieval people using machine guns and bazookas). Many gfx and sound effects are out of place (the aliens scream like humans, UFO sounds like helicopter).
There is only ONE improvement - you can quit from game to main menu and restart current mission.
Cannon Fodder 2 looks like an unfinished game (probably rush job to publish it before Christmas 1994).

Worse than CF, it always have been worse. Harder if it's possible, sloppy level design and sterile alien levels. But to avoid misunderstanding, it's still good game! But difficulty is really crazy even with UAE and save states..

The most interesting part about this sequel to the classic Cannon Fodder was the toned down difficulty. I found the game fairly easy compared to the prequel. Also, I always thought the sequel had abit of a bizarre look to it. Still a quality game, just more like a remix then a fully fledged sequel.

I just loved the middle east style stages and did enjoy the reworked game mechanics while it lasted. Think I reached Mission 12 but what killed it for me once I found out how hard it was getting were the Space & Knights in Armour stages. These really put the nail in the coffin and stopped me being hocked and returning for more. War was War and was only fun if it was kept some what real like the first title.
Cannon Fodder II should of gone to Vietnam or South America with jungle mulish drug lord camps and the like. Shame.

Cannon Fodder 2 is more a like a level disk than a full sequel. While it features new and considerably harder levels, the gameplay remains largely unchanged. I quit playing after about five levels. As Puzzle Rattrap said before, it's just too sadistically frustrating to be worthwhile entertainment.

Not quite good than its predecessor...but it's cannon fodder and only that matters...

Still a very good game, but offered nothing new over the original, and to be honest the daft time-travel scenario totally killed the atmosphere (alien planet levels? Hello? Anybody there?). Also it seemed to be much harder. Regardless, it's still Cannon Fodder and still brilliant. Just not quite as much.

This was harder than the original but the alien levels interested me.
You have got to love this game but if you compare it to the original it falls short somehow.

I liked the first game more, the setting and the colour palette. But still, this is a good game, though really hard at times!

Way too hard to play, and the first one was already enough difficult!

I seem to differ here. I liked this just as much as the first. The difficulty increase was much better, whereas CF1 was so hard after about level 7/8. Yes, the guns sounded crap and gameplay is identical to the first but I though the different terrain was very innovative.

Like the 1st version - terrific!
10/10

In the category of the data disk it still provides a lot of fun, however it is much more difficult and has been rather more entertaining for the creators than for the players. In the category of a sequel the game could have been a bit more innovative.

This was more like an expansion pack than a sequel. Was it just me or were the soldiers much dumber in this one?

Somehow not as fun as the first

I see alotta bad comment about this game, but I really like it. No where as good as number one but I still think its cool. Got to about mission 23 and it just gets too damn hard.

Ok the first one was a classic, not entirely sure about the second. It had different levels but the same GFX and sound virtually so I wasn't that impressed but I still played it right through to the end cos I was addicted to it

It looks a bit the same as the first Cannon Fodder game, but with different levels.

Everything - and I mean everything - that made Cannon Fodder a classic was lost in this sad sequel. Graphics are gaudy making it hard to tell things apart but what's worse, the level design is, to put it bluntly, absolutely crap. What else can you expect when that department was handled by Stuart Campbell... (Just for the record, I think British games reviewers couldn't tell if a game was good or not even if it peeled off their skin and poured salt on exposed flesh.)

Haaaa!!!!!
Cannon fodder 2, the great sequel to the first one, F*****G Irakies hehe to blast with some phases really hard to go, I just loved the aliens sessions as I had laugh like hell
on how they were doing (what a level of difficulty) but a pleasure to work out till the end. Remember mission 7 héhé??? How difficult it was to destroy the turrets on the right of the level? OMG I've spent nights on it!!! But once done nothing can stop you
to go forward.....Ready to use flying saucers ? Ho a lot of fun here too.
Really a game to own in original form, go and buy it on ebay!!!!!

Desert missions were good, but space missions were ... Bad

Poo in comparison to the original

Not as much fun as the Original. It got a bit silly with the aliens, and was much more fun as jungle warfare.
