Very great shmup game.
Well balanced the difficulty and well balanced too the various powerups. Good idea to shot on the powerup to change it. All the features seems work very good. Various enemies and you can feel how the game becomes more hard stage by stage. Must play!

An arcade-quality shooter which is a must-play for fans of Capcom's 194x series.

A very pretty vertical shooter. At the time I thought the genre had run its course long before this point and I wasn't going to spend money on a prettier version of something I had been playing on my Amstrad 8 years previously. But with hindsight, there was still plenty of room (e.g a good selection came out on the Dreamcast) and people look back very fondly on shmups these days. It deserves it's place in the top 100 as one of, if not the, finest example of the genre on the Amiga. Anything which made real use of the AGA chipset, as this did, deserves some recognition.

Technically perfect. I think it's the best shoot-em game on amiga. Problem is, that, unfortunatelly, it's for kids only. Set autofire and shoot everything all around.. And again, it's only my problem.
It's much more boring than when I was fifteen (even in two players)

I voted 8. Yes its a good shooter with great character and graphics, but just like SWIV its hard, and relies a lot on the player surviving to keep the powerups. I never made it beyond the middle of level 3, even on easy mode and after lots of addictive practicing.

One of the first aga game i leeched down from some bbs with my hst us robotics, how naughty. Fancy pansy gfx atleast it was then.

This is the best vertical shooter on the Amiga. Technically wise every detail is pefectly crafted. There are fantastic animations and visual effets (you don't get to see transparencies on the machine everyday), great graphic design and high quality sounds. It also plays really well, being very hard at easy level too but also rewarding after a lot of practice. Easily mistaken as a Capcom's 194X wannabe when it came out, it has indeed a very distinct identity with its steampunk looks and humorous features. It has its downsides too, like controls that could be a little more responsive and complete lack of in-game music, even though there are some decent tunes during titles and attract mode (9/10).

One of those games I never got especially far, even though I've always enjoyed playing it.
But on the other hand it got great graphics good sound and great great story, as far stories goes in a Shoot em up game.
Graphics: 9
Sound: 7 (No plane I've ever heard sounds like a lawn mover)
Game play: 7 Quite agile.
Addictive: 8 It's worth a few hours.

Excellent in every detail! The only thing that prevent me to full enjoy it is the fact that I pretty dislike the format "Only four VERY LONG levels". Vote 7/10

I found the game rather claustrophobic to play, everything felt tight and hemmed in, and the lack of music and SFX at the same time was also minor let down.
Graphics, SFX and controls are top notch though. I just never got the hype over the actual gameplay. 6/10.

Just for implementing a power-up that retains weapon upgrades when you lose a life (something I had wanted to see in a shmup for years), these guys would deserve a golden statue!
Other than that, the great graphics, attention to detail, steampunk setting and general gameplay rhythm made this game a real treat. Just like Hybris, though, perhaps I would have preferred five or six levels, even if they had to be a tad shorter.
One of the greatest titles in this genre prior to the ''bullet hell'' era.

Banshee is one of the very few shoot 'em ups on the Amiga I really wanted to finish without using cheat codes or trainers. On my best run, made it about halfway through the fourth level before I lost my last life. I wish I had been a little more persistent and beat this amazingly detailed and well-balance game.

Banshee is a good game, but I don't think it is a classic. The stand out part for me are the graphics which have a reminiscence of the Bitmap Brothers graphics, metallic look. The gameplay itself is good, but not outstanding due to the claustrophic feel the game sends out to the player. A pity.

Got to play this one once in a while. Great fun dodgin' all those bullets! Smooth action, well done, must play.

Banshee is the game that best uses the AGA and beats any Megadrive shmup but no the best Snes shmups. However, its greatest virtue is the addiction. So,is Banshee perfect?no because there is not music while playing and it's just a shmup,no a great genre IMO.

Kind of like Ghost Pilots...not bad, worth seeking out for V-scrolling shmup fans. 8/10

Most likely the best vertical shooter for miggy. Excellent use of AGA capabilities as it sports many colors on screen and many animated sprites at once, some of them really big and perfect 4-way scrolling. Special mention to its special fx (rain, snow, explosions). What's more important, it rarely slows down and that's unnoticeable. If you need to showcase what AGA could do, this is one of the top 5 games to load for this job. Sound is good and I especially like the death screams of the soldiers you kill. Gameplay is nothing short of great, many weapons, well structured levels and varied enemies, even better with 2 players. Pure excellence! 10/10

Perfect gfx, hard gameplay, very good Core Design quality!

This is just pure class, from the music and gfx to the hard core arcade gameplay! Really awesome shooter that wouldn't look out of place in any arcade cabinet, even today!

Okay, wow! I'm really not a fan of games like this, but I just turned this on and instantly went into some sort of hyper state of mind, actually managing and progressing and having a lot of fun. Amazing graphics and gameplay, although I'm feeling a bit dizzy now.

This is absolutly amazing shoot'em up. Attention to details in the graphics area is awesome. Four huge levels with hundreds of enemies to destroy. Also for 2 players simultaneously. Core Design at most times rocks!

Perhaps the best shoot'em up on the A1200 but it still had some flaws. Okay, graphics and sound were great and showed would could have been done with this machine, but gameplay wasn't that great if you took a closer look.
It was sometimes a bit unfair and there only were four levels as far as I remember. It was nothing new nor something special, but I wished there would have been more like this on the A1200.
Graphics 9,5/10
Sound 9/10
Gameplay 8/10
Overall 8/10

One of the last Amiga games I bought. I regretted getting this version and not the one for CD32. BIg stack of floppies next to a single CD? No contest!! Still, I'd play it every now and then. Very nice visually. A real good challenge that stands the test of time.
9/10

One of the best vertical shoot-'em-up's for the Amiga. It has great playability and can be compared to many Arcade coin-op originals. Although, this seems to do a lot better in a lot of areas. Especially to do with its atmosphere that a lot of other games in this genre lack. This and SWIV are my two all-time favourites on the Amiga to do with vertical shoot-'em-up's. A true classic well deserved. Excellent.

Only played the demo, but I wish I could still put my hands on a CD image to complete it! Awesome memory!

Probably the best vertical shoot'em'up for Amiga, with great victorian setting and great gfx.

One of only a handful of Amiga games which a) don't suck; and b) aren't available on other platforms. As such, this is one of the Amiga's killer apps. Wonderful graphics (with some great subtle colour shifts and weather effects), solid sounds, and super slick gameplay which only becomes marginally weaker if you haven't a mate to share it with.
This is exactly what all Amiga action games *should* have been like - arcade quality, but without all the cutesy nonsense that the consoles were saddled with. Just good, clean fun. Play it. 10/10.

Simply a perfect shoot-em-up! Nothing else to say...

One word: quality. I only gave it a 9/10, because there's no in-game music to lift the spirits whilst you are dealing out death and destruction. Other than that, it's great fun, and it doesn't really take itself too seriously.

It's not Battle Squadron but a good vertical shoot-em-up in the Core style.

Too bad this one arrived late on a dying market so a lot of ex-Amiga users don't know it. One of the best shoot'em up on the Amiga and since the best shoots are on the miggy: one of the best shoot'em up of all times.

My heart always leaps when I think of this game. When I first saw it, I was thrilled; finally Amiga game that actually used the AGA chip like I knew it could be.. The slow crossfades and the fog effect and all that pixelled beauty and even a great rendered pic in the intro! I think this is among the 3 best horizontal shoot'em'ups ever made on any platform. I am still not sure if Arcade version of Truxston is better or not. My two friends actually played to the last monster of the last level (at least we think it was), but died there.. What a frustration. Kinda difficult game for me but otherwise it was so great fun - shooting those trucks so the flaming little guys ran screaming.. Ah, the feeling of destructive power! This is a classy and beautiful game which deserves a high ranking.

Totally love this one! This is what 1943 should have been! Nothing more to say than total polish from end to end!

One of the best shooters on the Amiga, and reminiscent of the game that started it all, 1942. Very good, Chaos Engine - style graphics and balanced gameplay, near-perfect but just a bit too short.

Good-looking, slick and enjoyable '1942' clone that is, alas, a little too slow to knock it's arcade inspiration into a cocked-hat. Still well worth a shot.

A little classic, this sure deserved more attention than it got. It's just a pity that many Amiga users had already switched to PCs by the time this reached the shops...
