Very good doom clone but on the Amiga, for 1996. As good 3D as you will ever get on a stock A1200. (But even better with an accelerator obviously) And excellent music and sfx.
This is one of those very tough involving 3d shooters that really kept me involved trying to find the next exit.
But I would've preferred some more variety in the graphics rather than just being grey all the time.
But mostly I was sure and extremely glad they released a 1.1 updated version with passwords at the end of every level rather than at the end of every world!
Easily one of the best Amiga games I've ever played.
A well deserved 9/10 from me!

This is actually very good game, well optimised for playing even on weaker Amigas. I have completed it on Blizzard 1230-IV and enjoyed it. Especially atmospheric music makes a lot. One of the best FPS on Amiga for sure.

One of the highest peaks reached by the three-dimensional software applied to an Amiga Classic video game, BREATHLESS is all ITALIAN pride. Slightly monotonous in scenarios that prefer gray tones and repetitive gameplay, it still offers a first-rate FPS experience. On underpowered AMIGA it's a real miracle of coding, far superior to unplayable KillingGrounds. CULT!

I didn't play this back in the day and, since I didn't have an accelerator nor any extra RAM, that was probably a good thing. Recently, I have put some time into it with (only) an 020 @ 28mhz and 8mb of fast RAM and I have been really impressed. It runs quite smoothly at looks very nice (by the standards of the day) and has mouse/cursor control. It has different heights, stairs, and the ability to look up and down (although sadly not with the mouse) and while it's 2.5D rather than true 3D, the same is true of Doom. It doesn't have an onscreen weapon and the enemies are rather small, but I would have been absolutely delighted with this back then and am getting some real enjoyment out of it now.

While a remarkable achievement in programming for Amiga computers, this was nowhere near as enjoyable as first-person shooters for Windows, Mac and consoles that were released in the same year. The environments all look the same, generally lacking atmosphere and distinctive features.

"Beat FPS on Amiga" well, it wasn't hard to obtain this title
Doom is way better to be honest.

Along with Gloom, propably the best FPS for the Amiga. A little repetitive but the option to boost your weapons, and a "Intex" style computer is nice

The best of the exclusive Amiga Doom clones. Period. The 90-degree walls never bothered me, only the slightly tiny and poorly animated enemy sprites, but overall it's a top notch 3D game.

Technically - a killer, but playability goes to hell after first two levels ....

Never played the actual game, but I remember testing an alpha version as a hidden part in the Drool this demo of Parallax, like end of 94 maybe. I think those where the same dudes behind the game.

I must admit that by the time first person shooters came to the Amiga, I wasn't that actively using the Amiga anymore. I had an A500 and I was considering buying a faster and better Amiga or maybe a PC. My love for the Amiga kept me from buying a (dorky) PC, but the nearing of the end of the Commodore era has always stopped me from buying a better Amiga. I did play the occasional Wolfenstein and Doom at my friends who already had a PC, but I must admit that I found these games pretty boring. My PC-friends were always bragging on about the fact that the Amiga wasn't capable of running first person shooters. I did play Gloom one time on an A1200 of my cousin, which made me a happy person, knowing that in some way, the Amiga wàs capable of doing it. Today I played Breathless for the first time on an emulator and I must admit that I am rather surprised about the quality of this. Although running the game in full screen mode with 1x1 pixels makes the game unplayable, with a smaller screen the game plays very well. The graphics are very nice and detailed with some stunning effects (height, light/dark). I agree with earlier comments that the gameplay is a bit repetitive and dull sometimes, which is a shame. Still, I want to give this game a high mark for its technical achievement and for the acknowledgement that the Amiga in the end, was capable of running technically good first person shooters.
Graphics: 9/10
Sound: 8/10
Playability: 7/10
Overall: 8/10

Loved the gfx, but this really didn't catch me. Poor level design and too much effort on the technical side, it left the group with no energy to work on the playability. Nice to show, less to play.

Good graphics which scale up nicely on faster Amigas, but the game itself is really dull. I don't think I ever played more than three or four levels due to the immense boredom :-). But most Doom clones suffered from crap level design, even on the PC, so this one is still probably better than most. 6/10.

There's an official patch which makes it run much smoother with 68060 CPU! It's available on Aminet: [www]

Quite good FPS for the Amiga. Too bad the weapons and enemies are a bit boring though. It´s not optimized for a 060 processor and it runs a bit sluggish on my Amiga with 060 50mhz.

Oh yes, Breathless! I remember the Amiga Format Coverdisk Demo. Can't say how many times I played it! Cool 3D environment, cool 1st person shooting action. On my bare A1200 was slow. Tried different combinations of graphics and window size. Now I keep playing it on my 68030 25MZH A1200 and get a decent framerate. This one is a must have!! I like Gloom as well, but this one is one step above. Quite atmospheric.

Excellent graphics, excellent gameplay. The most important is to wisely manage your cash.

Meh. Some of the graphics looked good at the time (mainly the locations as the sprites are horribly messy looking rendered crap), but the level design and gameplay are just too dull. OK I've never been a huge FPS fan but the technically inferior Gloom had bads more gameplay than this

Best-looking, pre-Quake 3D shooter around. Looked fantastic in full-screen but without a 040 it wasn't recommended. Enemies all looked the same, but the wonderful textures and backdrops make up for that. Had some great level design despite the mentioned 90-degree wall restrictions. Highly recommended.

This was a very surprising find for me when I had my Amiga. It was a FPS, which only those strange PC things were supposed to have. It also had good graphics - probably better and crisper than DOOM, to be honest. You needed a pretty beefy set up to be able to play it in any window bigger than a postage stamp, but if you did then it was worth it. Unlike Gloom, this one had things like stairs, so whilst the maps were 2D, there was some height to them which added to the realism. Also, unlike Gloom, it looked like someone had put some effort into the graphics, and not simply tapped around on Deluxe Paint one evening.
Was actually a very impressive game, and the atmosphere was spot on.

@Darkus: Beep - beep! Error. "Fears" was made by Bomb, not this one.
Never liked this game so much. Final version (with mouse aiming) was a bit better in a term of playability.

Excellent FPS (by Bomb!) .. Technically it was impressive and polished on the slight downside I always found it too difficult.

Definitely one of the best FPS' on the Amiga, this had a good atmosphere and playability despite some rough edges. I got quite good at this and learnt the whole strafe/look round corners tactics from this game. Although the game was all 90 degree angles I must say that the graphics were top notch overall and moved with very reasonable speed.

Really nicely done graphics and rode on the popularity of 3D shooters. Got boring later 'cos the maps were only in 2 dimensions (in other words the walls all ran north-south or east-west. There were no angles at all in this game). Anyway it was good fun for a while.

Generally I hate FPS games (all of) though I liked this, maybe cuz it actually pushed the Amiga and was quite smooth and fun to play
