Not much different from the OCS/ECS version, graphical tweaks won't raise the grade (6/10).

Far too fast, I sometimes can't make out enemy projectiles and this rapidly exhausts my lives. In addition to this, the basic gameplay remains pretty much identical to the original in spite of the small additions. All in all, I found more enjoyment in the original. 5/10 from me!

Ditto my Zool 2 comment + OMG! Look at those green 'copper' bars! Look at the non-filtered or smoothed eggs I'm walking on! Hold it. Is this right? I had to stop the game immediately and check the lemon screenshot of this version. Sure enough, it is correct. Aga. Aga? A? GEEE? AAAA??!! Really?? After the wonderful backgrounds of Zool 1 AGA?? Even Yo joe and Quick N' Silva had better layered pixels than this. 5/10

Ditto my comments on Zool one.

This is a fun, fast-paced platformer, and although it's easier than the original (the characters are easier to control in my opinion) it's still pretty challenging! I haven't completed it yet, but it's addictive enough to make me want to so hopefully someday I will!
It's cool you can play it 2 player also. When I was a kid, sometimes I played this with my brother, and sometimes I played it with my best friend. Even though both players can be the same character, my brother always wanted to be Zool and my best friend always wanted to be Zooz. Automatically, I would always choose the opposite character to who the other was playing, so I got a lot of experience as both, which was fun.
Sometimes, though, when playing this on my own (and if I have way too much free time on my hands) I will actually set it up as 2 player and play both characters myself. That way I get 2 chances, plus I always set up 1 player as Zool and 1 player as Zooz, so that I can play the levels differently (as the characters have slightly different abilities).
I thought this was a very good and replayable game - much better than it's prequel - and am surprised that there was never a Zool 3 (as far as I know). Then again, I still don't think Zool had as much potential as an "Amiga mascot" as perhaps James Pond, or maybe even Superfrog. Still, if you ignore all the over the top advertising and just play the game, you will see it's actually a decent and very fun platformer!

I found myself that I needed to adjust or get used to Zool's different approach. I did not like it at the beginning. Especially the ECS version seemed to me a bit empty. AGA version fulfilled the emptiness. Although the game is still a platformer it gives you a lot of fun. The game itself is maybe not one of the hardest task to finish (without any particular difficulties you are able to finish it on the HARD level) but it gives you a lot of fun. Huge scenery objects, a lot of action, different routes to finish the level (depending on the character you choose). Although the Superfrog is unbeatable number 1 for me, Zool 2 does not lose the distance much. The biggest difference between ECS and AGA version is much more advanced keyboard control over the game. One of the disadvantages of the game is that you can not have music and fx at one time. You have to decide on something. Music is good but it is much too loud and struggling through 3 levels hearing it all the time gets you irritated. AGA version gives you possibility to turn it off/on whenever you want.
