I bought this game on budget and overall I wasn't impressed. Whilst I do appreciate the addition of the original version (modelled on the Speccy but with slightly different sounds) the updated version makes a couple of obvious errors.
Firstly the timer is too short, making the game overly difficult. Also the music is atrocious. I had hoped for a wonderfully rousing version of Hall of the mountain king but instead we get a very plodding, supposedly comedic ditty which doesnt suit at all.
All in all a wasted opportunity. Not much better than average really. 4/10

Lol I'm still laughing people think the C64 version was the original! It was clearly a ZX Spectrum game soon after ported to every format around at the time.

A classic with no argument. Although it looked nice, (I did like the "ohhh" when you died though!) it just couldn't capture the old 8 bit feeling. Manic Miner was made to see the full level on one screen, like JSW2 on the Amiga this failed but was nice to see how modern programmers re-created the screens. At least the original was there to play.

Manic miner is a classic in the history of videogames, I found logical all computer have it in his collection, and this Amiga one is beautifully done, and respects the original title, wich i found good too. Its a nice detail the addition of the spectrum original one here.

Apparently this was my mum's favourite platformer for a while, and admittedly it can be pretty entertaining just because it's so difficult! But if it weren't for the unlimited lives cheat there's no way I would have ever seen past the first level. Definitely something I'd say is more suitable for advanced and very patient gamers.

Here's a typical example of why certain games shouldn't be converted. Manic Miner was a true classic on the C64 platform, but its conversion didn't add much at all to the game. Good for the C64 platform, too average for the Amiga. A bit of a shame, because the gameplay is still ok.

Although the updated version is mediocre, the original still stands out as a classic platformer. Rock hard, but in a good way; the level design is pretty much perfect. If you die you know it's your fault. Somehow the music is worse than the Spectrum version but otherwise this is a great port of an 8-bit classic.

Not bad, not bad. I thought it was good that the original C64 version was included and I enjoyed playing it in both versions, but it was sooooooo hard I never got past level 4 or 5!

A little C64 classic - but the Amiga version is an insult. Graphics are laughable and the collison detection is utter crap! (10%)

I used to love Manic Miner when it first came out in the early 80's and I love this version too. The scrolling levels spark new life into the game and the graphics are quite good too (even if the main character does look a bit Mario-esq). If you like Manic Miner then you should love this. Disk also contains the original Manic Miner in C64 format.

I still reemmber the horrible background music in this game. And two samples: "GO!" and "Your exit is opened!" But in fact, I didn't like even the original Spectrum version.

The disk released by Software Projects contains two games; one is a direct port from C64 with the same graphics and sound, the second is an enhanced version with Amiga-grade graphics and tons of new features. You can compare screenshots.
