Gave it a 7 as it's a damn fine game.
It looks great and sounds okay too, the only problem is spotting enemy projectiles, which results in a LOT of cheap deaths. Sometimes you aren't even aware what killed you. Still a blast and arguably a lot better as a two player game.
Great times to be had here.

The best SEGA game on the Amiga, it should score higher.

It's a good conversion.

Some Us Gold arcade ports were decent and Crack Down was one of them thanx to Arc Developpements who were a bit more concerned about quality than the infamous Tiertex or Creative Materials.
Except the jerky though bearable scrolling, everything is nicely rendered. Ok gfx, various and well animated sprites, great soundtrack and accurate sfx. The game plays well and the difficulty curve set just right though the last levels are a bit of a struggle. All in all a superior conversion given the year it was released.

Because it was one of the first games i owend, i loved it.I think it was the sounds on the title screen that gave the reason to ply it.I have not seen, heard or noticed any copys for sale on the net.....

An overlooked Gauntlet clone, set in the present day with an emphasis on stealth over blasting. It benefits enormously from the split screen, which completely eliminates the 'someone got stuck in a corner' syndrome which Gauntlet had.
The music is great, and along with the 'sneak around corners' gameplay it creates a brilliant atmosphere - as Eltar said, almost cinematic.
Unfortunately, some dodgy coding prevents it from being great. Most irritating is the collision detection, which is *way* off. In particular, the 'flatten against wall' move is next to useless as the bullets tend to hit you anyway. Frustrating!
It's still a fun blast, though, and worth checking out, if only because it's so unique.
7/10.

A surprisingly good game. Split screen, means a lot a fun with a friend. It's basically an average labyrinth shooter, but with a very enjoyable infiltration flavor due to the facts that :
1) The levels were rather small. You really felt cracking down on a base after another.
2) The enemy AI was decent. They would react, come after you or lose track of you, if I remember well. There was some hide-and-seek, some outsmart them aspect that was maybe just in my mind, but, at least it WAS in my mind. And it couldn't be there when I was playing, say, "Rolling Thunder" or "Dogs of War".
3) You could flatten yourself against the wall. THIS is what won me over. Not only you could dodge bullets that way, but it really felt cinematographical. It's a feature that I sought a lot, and that I had only found in "Obliterator" so far. So, for me, yeah "Crackdown" is basically the shooter where you could flatten yourself against the wall, and, call me crazy, it makes it a great game to my eyes.
There. Gave it an 8.

An average game. Like Ikari Warriors but scrolls every direction. There is quite much variety with levels but everything is very average. Not absolutely bad, but since there are much better games, why to waste your time with this one.
