Just a 5 here as it's not awful, it's just got some major problems and you can find similar games that are much better.

Not quite as good as the likes of Spy Hunter, Action Fighter may entertain you for a few minutes. Unfortunately it's flaws become all too evident quite quickly.

During the road sections, the game runs at blazing speeds, which is nice at first, but eventually causes the player all manner of issues navigating traffic while trying to outrun the timer. With collision detection being rather iffy at best, it can be quite infuruating. Funnily enough, the flying stages run far too slowly, and feels like you are playing in slow motion with an awfully choppy framerate.

If the speed had been balanced somewhere between the two, this would have been a far more enjoyable experience.

Aww...I remember this quite fondly. I think I liked its fast pace (well, until you got to the flying car sections, they slowed right down) and especially liked pulling into the SEGA lorry for weapon upgrades.

Can't really explain why but I played it very often through all the years.

I think today it would be called "casual game". On of those niffty little gems that look like nothing but can get you hooked for ages.

I like the clean graphics style very much. Now since I know the arcade version through M.A.M.E. I still like the Amiga conversion more mostly because of gotten used to I think. The only letdown against the arcade version is the false 90 degree screen orientation as usual on conversions making it much harder than the original ...

Like FireBrand, I got this as a cover disc in the early 90s. And despite the graphics being pretty dated even then, I actually enjoyed it a lot.

Well, at least until it got to the over-water second stage and the whole thing entered slow-motion with corrupted graphics. Guess it was one of those older games that didn't like my A500 Plus very much. Shame :-(

I and my brother loved "Spy Hunter" on C64. On Amiga I was looking for something similar and after so many years (I think it is 18 or something) I finally found it. "Action Fighter" is a "Spy Hunter" clone. It gives you basically everything what the other game did. Unfortunately the playability is much worse mainly because of the limited vision field. It is rather small and it is hard to keep speeding up and in the same time watching the road and obstacles. I recommend playing original SEGA version. Firebird edition and Kixx edition published by Core are far more difficult since there are only three lives to waste.

This game should be taken for what it is a small and fun Spy Hunter clone, it's not fantastic but it was a nice little treat to get for free as a cover disk.

I missed Spy Hunter when I got the Amiga and Action Fighter was a great alternative and of course the best bit about it is when you change from one vehicle to another. The controls are a bit ropey and the sound effects aren't much more than glorified blips but it's a nice time waster game.

I had some fun for sometime. I still boot it to play for 5 minutes. Nothing special, but not the worst either.

I hated this game
it was frustrating to loose because of the damn playability. Or maybe I was too bad to reach the end of this game??

For some reason I liked to play this little game. Never saw the arcade version. Worst music, EVER! But thankfully it's not playing not while you're playing.
