A very impressive high resolution graphics and unique sound effects (mostly voices) make this game highly appreciable in terms of presentation. Unfortunately when it comes to the gameplay, the game suffers from typical, basic mistakes of the first adventure "point and click" games. The story is linear and time is crucial making some important events easy to miss thus completion of the game might be a problem and many activities needs to be repeated. However the game is not long so if you are one of the more patient players, you might give it a try and you may find it enjoyable.

I was too scared to play this when I was little, although my father bought it. After ten years I managed to finish the game; damn it is HARD. Even though I made it without any walkthrough, it was very frustrating. The problem is not the puzzles (which are fairly simple themselves), but the fact that time passes and you must do some things at specific times, or you will find yourself in an unwinnable state without even knowing it. But I found myself very immersed in it nonetheless!

Even though I was (and still am) a huge H.R. Giger fan, I never really played this game back in the old days. Recently, I played it for the first time on an emulator and I must say that I liked it very much. The graphics were pretty revolutionary for an Amiga game, in hi-res. Shame it was constantly flickering, but fortunately you can improve this in modern day emulators. Nice story, eery locations and some real time action made this a very dark horror-adventure which was much fun! A must for every adventure fan!

Darkseed's atmospheric aesthetics with scanned and digitized art in rarely used hi-res help build a subtle and disturbing horror atmosphere. Adventurewise the game isn't without its shortcomings. Playing area consists of too few rooms and it's not always clear what to do. It's ye olde trial & error & save often formula but it's rewarding in the end. Darkseed feels like a proper, robust Amiga game, especially when played off hard drive, not cheap PC port like so many other games were at the time.

Very special atmosphere in this game. Still, after nearly 15 years, I often dream about a constricted room in my old home which looks like the second bedroom in this game. It gives me the chills. Orange/green torn wallpaper, withered plants...

Absolutely the best horror themed adventure game ever. H.R. Giger plus awesome storyline + one of the best GFX on Amiga + creepy music... TOTAL HIT!

A very atmospheric adventure game. The interface is a bit sluggish and the point-and-click interface can be quite challenging sometimes but the puzzles are logic and you never get the idea that you are completely stuck somewhere. Also decent graphics for its time and good music and digitized speech. Not in the Monkey Island league, but not far off.

This game was great I thought, nice horror adventure game with great GFX and nice atomspheric music. The GFX done on par with HR Giger master of the Alien creation in the film itself. I remember playing this and being sucked into the storyline, was kinda wierd and interesting to play though

They should make this game into a film ! Maybe they will sometime...after all the people behind this game I wonder what they're doing now?

Played and finished it. Pretty cool game but not that scary. And oh yeah... Get flicker fixer for this game.

A really immersive game. As far as point and clicks go, this game gets a gold star for having almost all of its puzzles "make sense" if you pay attention to the hints (whereas in a lot of games, solutions to puzzles often seem counterintuitive or arbitrary). The game also gets gold stars because it doesn't add challenge by adding length - the game is quite challenging, yet short and simple if you know what you're doing. That's a rarity and a pleasure in any point and click.

Although I am an admirer of H.R. Giger's art in general - the guy behind the famous Alien in the Alien movies - I never really liked this game somehow. I'm not particularly fond of digitized graphics. Still a creepy game that you might want to check out.

My first adventure-game which I got installed on HD, very reallistic atmosphere and the other world reminded me of Alien(s)3 whatever TM, somehow I got stuck somewhere so never finished it, stunning graphics too

This has some of the best graphics I've seen on the Amiga, but the graphics and sound effects were so real, but it did flicker so much, and I don't blame @BlippyM, it was hard to for too long, unless you want to have a headache.

Gave me a bloody headache.. Laced GFX

I was never able to play this for more than 3 mins before headaches, hence my low score

I might try it again in winuae, no flicker
