A superb dropzone sequel. 9/10

For me it's so-so not a big deal. Control ok, played on slowest speed but it's pointless shooter. Sorry not my type.

The inspiration for this game obviously came from Drop Zone, as the goals are the same along with the gravity pulling the ship downward when idle. With that being said, this is truly a magnificent game all around. I probably played this more than any other Amiga game back when it came out, and it is the only original Amiga game (box and all) that I still own (just couldn't chuck it!). Game is difficult (as it should be!), and worth the frantic stress levels it produces. Great visual effects and lightning fast scrolling.

Defender in it's original form is one of the best games ever produced IMHO.
And this conversion does the most important thing exactly right: You need to have lightning fast reflexes to get anywhere. Great stuff!

Maybe the best Defender-clone, not only on the Amiga but in existence. This game is *fast*! You need reactions like in a modern danmaku game... In god mode. And it has cooperative 2-player! Pure adrenalin.

Perfect defender clone. Highly additive. Wish there were more 'retro' games produced that were of this quality.

Tried this recently on the emulator, and I found it a great game... Thanks!
I never was a big fan of the original Defender but this was a very funny retrogaming experience...

Awesome defender clone this is..! It's frantic, it's chaotic, it's bizarre, it's... Just excellent

There is a great range of different and recognisable baddies. Fast gameplay soon gives way to furious survival. It's addictive, it's infuriating and those colourful pixelated explosions rock. Hours of fun to be had with one.

Maybe I didn't play this for weeks in a row, but Datastorm felt like a quality title that captured the Defender-style action quite perfectly.

I love the bosses on this game. Big skull and metal jelly fish-tentacles thing. Brilliant

While I STILL wish for a perfect, full screen, full speed, high res Atari 800XL version of Drop Zone to play on a modern system (rather than the clunkily emulated C64 versions available on the various Awesome snooker and pool titles), DataStorm was a right rollicking, throw-enough-mud- and-see-what-sticks, over-egg the pudding blast riot.

Datastorm is the best shoot-'em-up ever made for the Amiga. It was inspired by Drop Zone for the '64 (and of course the ultimate debt is owed to Defender). It starts out easy and gradually ramps to insanely frenetic. It's especially satisfying to blast away at the giant Squid or Skull and enjoy the massive explosion. Just plain fun!

Being a fan of Defender and Dropzone I had no qualms with Datastorm and it remains one of my favourites today. Gameplay is very fast and smooth, but the amount of enemies flying about can be mind-blowing at times, particularly on the later levels. Very addictive, too. Presentation is good and includes several options to set up player and joystick configurations. Well worth checking out, easy to get into, hard to put down!

Only tried this one out recently, but I'm really impressed with it. The amount of sprites flying around the screen with no loss of smoothness or speed is a real feat. The gameplay is similar to the C64 game Dropzone, which makes it a vague relative of Defender (you must pick up each of the humanoids and fly them through a portal within the wrap-around level), but the variety in enemies (some of them filling almost the whole screen - The Datastorm itself is especially terrifying) makes it addictive.
