One of the best Amiga games ever imho! Gameplay is difficult but gripping and well worth the time, Brilliant music (Richard Joseph would be proud) A solid 9 from me ;-)

Now this is more like it. A really high profile game that does everything the Megadrive version does and then it does some more. The presentation of Desert strike on the Amiga totally wipes the bottom floor with the Megadrive version. Whoa! Hey hit me! The music is brilliant, and the presentation is super slick, like the start of an action movie. Then you get to the game, and the graphics are improved with transparent shadow effects. It's so subtle, and achieved by using the halfbrite bitplane, which is a nice cheap effect often used to increase the usual ocs colour palette from 32 to 64, by offering an extra 32 colours that are half as bright as the first 32. With all that out of the way, this game is a mission based helicopter game. There are three weapons of varying power and speed, and you have to be careful not to run out of ammunition and fuel. A mad man that I suppose is supposed to emulate the western portrayal of how Saddam Hussein is trying to take over the world by obtaining the secrets to producing the best weapons in the world at the time, and it's your job to stop him. It's a sickening plot to be fair, but if you're decently desensitised by such things then you'll be able to ignore that and have a great time with this game, just as I did in my naive childhood days. These days, having matured and knowing a bit more about the world, this game makes me feel quite ill. I don't think I shall ever play it again.

I was terrible at this game. I lost count of how many crashed survivors of my own forces I accidentally gunned down while trying to defend myself against anti-aircraft guns. Though I never got past mission one (seriously), I would often load it up to hear the theme music and watch the intro again.

For a helicopter-loving-kid like me at the time was this pure porn!

I played this game since then on the Genesis, SNES, PC, Gameboy and Atari LYNX. And definitely the amiga version was far the best. The sound and the gfx are very detailed and some small things like the whole screen is white for a second when a enemy explodes are the things that only the amiga have.

I still have my boxed version of this. I played it endlessly on my A1200. I'd imagine it's STILL a fun game to play and quite a challenge. The sequels on my PC never even came close. I've used Nuclear Strike PC (along with some others) to hold my front speakers level with the monitor. Hehe

SUCH an amazing game. Another Amiga classic. The other versions - not even the ORIGINAL - don't come even with a MILE. Amazing graphics and especially convincing sounds. It was a tad frustrating and very difficult at times. Having infinite Hydras helps.

Awesome fun game, where they actually put a lot of effort into the conversion to make the amiga version even better! Cant think what else to say to praise this game any more apart from if you have never played it, give it a go... You wont be sorry!

Absolute TOP GAME!! Probably worth 10 out of 10, if not even more! The graphics in this game are highly impressive, and the helicopter casts a shadow! The sound FX are also very realistic! And possibly best of all, the explosions in this game are very satisfying!

Okay, there are only a handful of missions in this game, but the authors more than made up for it by making the missions very long, interesting and challenging. It's quality over quantity here. Ace game!

The story is quite basic. But the gameplay, graphics, athmosphere and the sounds are something remarkable. I played this game not just to survive and beat those bastards, but also to see how I die and everything is gone (with that hauntingly beautifull song in the end). This game actually rewarded you for getting killed

Great game and a rare thing: a conversion that surpasses the original. The graphics and sound are way better than the console versions and the all new explosions, exclusive to Amiga, are brilliant

Great game! Really a jewel. The gameplay is perfect, great graphics, great idea. Rescuing soldiers from your side while they are shot with the enemy is fantastic. Very entertaining.

Great game. I've spend half of my childhood trying to beat it, but with no luck Intro was fantastic, especially music in it.

One of my all time favourits! Only thing I think of to complain about is that the graphics are sometimes a bit unclear and gritty, making it hard to make out everything on the screen.

The intro music is classic!

Classic game! I remember playing it round my mates on his Sega and then my dad getting it for me on the Amiga 500+. Great gameplay, graphics and sound! But come on, we all love blowing things up!

This was well done alright - it came at about the peak for Amiga gaming as far as I'm concerned - 93/94. I had a buddy who always reckoned he was in 'Platoon' with William Defoe's 'Elias' running for the chopper when he was rescuing the guys with the winch. "Elias... Noooooooo!!!" Good game, 8/10.

For newbies a bit to extensive. Nice graphics and lovely shouts like "..over here" / "help..". Sounds nice. Maybe this game is a little bit too difficult.

This game just oozes with COOLNESS!
From the cool animated intro, to the way the menu flys in and out, to the digitized loading screen of a helicopter, to the nifty in game animation sequences this game just preforms! One of the best games for the Amiga!

Excellent mix of fast and frantic shoot'em up with elements of tactic. The GFX is neat although a bit "jumpy" (sometimes lack of smoothness gives a sign). The main disadvantage of this game is that there is no data disk. Jungle Strike is taken as a sequel but it is not even worth to smell the exhaust gas after your chopper

I did really enjoy this, it certainly gave the Megadrive a run for its money in fact I'd say it was better. Music and sound effects were spot on too.

Excellent updated version of an old classic (Choplifter)! Plays well, one of the last big name action games for the Amiga... Can't comment on the conversion, but it seems like an ambitious and successful one.

A great conversion of Megadrive hit. In fact, Amiga version even betters it with somewhat revamped graphics and presentation. A great blast even if a bit morally dubious cash in on Gulf War. Still, they don't make games like this anymore. It's just lifeless 3D crap these days. Sigh

Excellent conversion of the console title, that added a great MOD intro song. The lack of multiple button use didn't hurt the game too much, but it did slow it down a bit. Also a better in mission save function would have been helpful.

A pretty decent conversion of the megadrive/genesis original although it doesn't seem to play as well as the console version, but the sound effects and intro are a lot better
