Doodlebug is only notable for being one of the early adopters of Sega's Sonic stylemes on the Amiga, being predated only by Zool. At the same time it draws ideas from games like Mario and Robocod. It's not really comparable to the games inspiring it but nonetheless it is colourful, has appropriate music and sounds and offers some fun and addiction once mastered. Nothing outstanding here but platform games lovers might give Doodlebug a chance (6/10).

Very simple idea and a joy to play. It is a difficult game but kinda makes me go back for more.

Average platformer with colourful but not particularly inspired graphics, average SFX and with some minor design flaws, up for jump, leaps of faith, etc...
Still got a some enjoyment out of it in the beginning, though...

Platform cute but frustrating. Cartoon style graphics and sound normal, technically sufficient. Time to pretend to be mastered properly, understanding that, once familiar with the controls, there is a lot of fun with this title. It gets better on the Amiga, of course, but not by Doodlebug disdain. Peacez!

Very nice--repetitive, but nice. Good quality artwork, attractive parallex scrolling graphics, fun to play. Fair controls.

It's very OK. The graphics and music are nothing to write home about, every good idea in the level design is canceled out by an annoying hazard or enemy, and the tight time limit certainly doesn't do the game any favors. The controls aren't too precise, and the main attack is unwieldy, but both work well enough.
"Mediocre" is the strongest word that I can use to describe this game.

Not very original but still funny, I had love it when I was young. Nice FX. 7,5/10

Nice graphics and parallax. Consolesque looking. It's not very original but so what? It's fun and that's what matters most. 80%.

Quite OK but not very innovative and far too easy! (66%)

OK platformer. There is enough varierty in graphics of different levels to keep a (platoformer loving) player interested. So, I completed this one. Not anything special in this game, though.

Not very complicated. Mainly for young players. Far too easy but who said games should be difficult

Not a bad little game really. Much more fun than the Zools and Brian the Lions of this world.

Oh yes I remember the bug in the game too Mr.Cummings as I read about it in a magazine. I thought the game was good as it had nice GFX and I loved the level design, simple...

There is a bug in this game (no pun intended) on the last level in Captial City, where you can get in the flying saucer and fly directly up and diagonal through the map to the last door in the game that leads to the final boss heh... Core Design thought at the time that it made quite a good feature I recall, and as we were about to master the disc I left it in due to time constraints - bet you did'nt know that one then

I wrote this too and thought it was pretty good back in the day
