I really want to love this game each time I launch it. In France, with Moktar as hero, it was a little bit easy to avoid it in 1992 as I hated Lagaf 'and his horrible song which was so successful. But Titus The Fox is so cute that it is more difficult not to love this game. But wonderful GFX, music and animation can't hide all the gameplay and design errors that ruin the game. Levels are sometimes frustrating labyrinths and by default the main character moves way too fast. And what is this idea to place him in front of the screen? We always have to progress step by step, what is just once again frustrating in a game in which scrolling is so fast.

To help, you can press F10, a standard feature that divide the speed by 2. It's a bit slow but if you swtich your Amiga to 60hz display, here you have a decent speed. It's sometimes very slow as you understand that Titus made the choice to display the game as fast as possible depending the number of sprites on screen, what's a little bit stupid. But the game is far more playable with this settings

A real mess, the game is beautiful but really frustrating on many points.

Looking at both Moktar and Titus the Fox, Moktar does seem to fit into the setting more, visually speaking. Seeing a cute little fox pick up city thugs and throwing them around always looked so funny. But it's funny in a good, entertaining way, and Titus is an appealing character too.

The ending to the games are different - unlike in Titus, there is a final boss at the end of the game in Moktar. According to reviews and comments on a lot of websites, most people seem to prefer Moktar, although I must admit I think I prefer Titus. But then again, Moktar is the original for some while Titus was always the first one I'd heard of, so that's fair enough. Either way, if you're one of the original Titus fans who missed out on Moktar the first time round (like me) then I recommend giving Moktar a go too!

Two possible reasons for the change - a)nobody outside France has heard of Moktar, and b) consolesque platformers with cutesy characters were en vogue on the Amiga at the time.

Moktar was released in 1991. It was published only on french market. Moktar was character invented by Lagaf, a french humorist. A year later, Titus Software decided to go abroad with its game but they replaced the character of Moktar with the fox called the same as the software house. Guybrush might be right saying that they wanted to have a mascot or maybe Lagaf didn't let them to use the character abroad? We will never know. Moktar and Titus the Fox has a little differences in the matter of music and graphics (energy bar). The rest is the same.

Hmm looks like that because the game is exactly the same even the main GFX screen with the the 3 characters in it, I remember Titus the fox being in the middle where that guy was

Maybe's Titus Software wanted a mascot and renamed it, well Sega had Sonic and Gremlin had Zool, so maybe they were wanting to jump on the band wagon
