Awesome rpg with great graphics and sound! Regarding the fight-system: just save after every enemy. Or before them. I liked this more than II, Elvira 2 is too complex. Furthermore in 1 the castle has a fantastic atmosphere

Since nobody commented on this topic yet, I am going to add: The spooky music you hear in the castle right at the beginning of the game is lifted from the midpart of "Polar Chase" by Fleshbrain, a demoscene tune from issue 3 of the Eurochart disk magazine. David Hasler's music in Elvira is not just inspired by it, it is literally the same samples with just a few minor tweaks in the arrangement. Here are two download links if you want to compare both tracks: [www] [www]

Excellent Horror experience. Dying in such ways did a little make me nervous for the following trials. Haunting atmosphere!

I am making the castle in survival mode of Minecraft, but something occured to me that never did before, there is no visible moat in the garden or even outside the entrance to the castle even though there is supposed to be a moat surrounding the castle

This is a truly a masterpiece. Few games manage to have an eerie atmosphere like Elvira. It's still one of my favorites.
I made a video review that can be found here: [www]

Combat system in this game sucks. What is this? Some kind of puzzle? Enemies don't even indicate where they are going to hit you. I've tried to finish this game on my own, but that was too much for me, and playing with solution sucks either.
With better combat system this game could have been awesome.

That soundtrack just gives me the screaming heebie-jeebies, even after all these years. Gotta love it.

Phantastic horror game... Very-very good music, graphic, atmospheric... And Elvira...

A complete and very well-crafted adventure with RPG elements. Also, possibly the creepiest game I've ever played. After this I really don't understand how people can get scared out of playing F.E.A.R. This one really gave me some "unpleasant dreams", to quote Elvira herself...
My only remark is that it doesn't really feel like it was tailored around the campy, B-movie comedic Elvira character. I mean, the atmosphere is too gory and "seriously" horrific... It feels all along like Horrorsoft were developing some spiritual sequel to Personal Nightmare, only to get the rights to the Elvira character when development was almost over, so they squeezed her in - if you'll forgive the Elvira-like pun - at the last minute. That's the gut feeling at least - whoops, sorry for yet another pun.

Surprisingly, a good game; with a nice, scary, gruesome atmosphere. Combat is too difficult in the beginning and quit tiresome later, though.

Elvira is one hell of a creepy role-playing game. The soundtrack is disturbing. The castle is filled with monsters and terrible secrets. The death scenes are very gruesome. Beating this is really rewarding. In my opinion, the only weakpoint of the game is the combat mechanic.

When I was in college, I remember my surprise as I read a review effusive with praise. I, of course, had assumed the game would be crap. The review was smack-on. I never finished it, but remember it as being challenging and truly scary, in large part due to an unsettling score. And I had a thing for Elvira, so the cleavage screens provided supple--er, AMPLE, enjoyment as well.

Great game here. The atmosphere oozes off the walls, and in places the game is genuinely scary! Luckily the lovely Elvira eases the tension by showing off her nice rack
Play this game you wont regret.

An appealing horror adventure. I remember I loved the graphics, especially the severed head in the kettle in the kitchen or the part where you had to stake the female vampire (both spoilers as they were also in the self running demo). The protection was also pretty nifty as you needed to have a hardcopy spellbook to finish the game. Loved to play it, would play it again.

The graphics (who could resist the mix of boobs AND horror?) were the selling point, but the game beneath it all was quite OK too (but I wouldn't play it today).
