Enchanted Land may have been technically impressive on the ST, but it's nothing special on the Amiga. The boppy, C64-like music sounds archaic and out of place on a system known for its sampling abilities, and the grainy graphics scroll in only one direction at a time, giving the game a bit of a multi-screen feel.
Fittingly, it's also mediocre in the gameplay department. Actually, that's an understatement - Enchanted Land is absolutely loaded with bad design. The monotony of its level layouts is bad enough, but the game is also stupidly unfair. For example, it pretends in the beginning that pits with visible spikes at the bottom are lethal, while pits that end off-screen lead to secret areas - then promptly puts spikes at the bottom of a pit that ends off-screen. I could go on about the way that the main character's jump height decreases when he's injured, trapping the player in low areas with lots of enemies, or the fact that almost all of the enemies are completely impervious to most of his attacks, but I'd be beating a dead horse.
Enchanted Land looks bad and plays worse. It's a complete waste of time.

Never really enjoyed playing this until recently, think it was trying to be a platformer/rpg all rolled into one. Didn't work for me.
