Pffff, IK+ is a classic on the Amiga, anyway... Like somebody mentioned earlier, Commando suffered from the difficulty curve which was a pity.

This was good on C64 but not on Amiga. Like IK+ and few more games were much better on C64.

Very close to the arcade. A lot harder here (this is what ruins this version), specially because the fire range seems decreased, and enemies are a lot more active and annoying than ever here. Anyway a classic game! Graphically is better here, but the c64 version is more playable, that's for sure!

Highly addictive though somewhat tedious in places, it takes about 20 minutes to load on an A1200, but I've still gotta give cahoots to this fine gem of my childhood.

This one should only be played on the arcade or the C64. No good and hard to run on most Amiga models.

This was a royal pain to get working in later Amigas, but it was just average. The C64 version is still great even with the glitchy graphicsand the music was excellent. Not a game to show Amiga potential.

Commando is a big part of my early gaming history. From the arcade to C64 and Amiga. The arcade plays better than this one, but there is no need to slam this one at all. Very Good.

Lux, I never mentioned the C64 version in my comment, this plays nothing like the arcade original, it sucks

I'm not agree with you guys.
This version is very close to be an arcade perfect. I think you never played the original arcade and played only c64's which has one level missing too...
This is an excellent version of one of the true arcade classics and it has also a better balanced difficulty level in comparison with the "10 minutes-to-win" Chris Butler's version.
Only thing missing it's the cool Hubbard's soundtrack.

Very average game, when compared to arcade original or even C64 version.

Tricky control.... Tricky shooting.... Great graphics and good to look at. But gameplay is not so good... It´s still a classic.

I wouldn't be so hard on elite systems, ED W, I find this commando conversion visually attractive, and I go absolutely along with the arcady, twangy soundtrack. Bomb jack was perhaps very bad looking, but paperboy and space harrier, as well as ghost n goblins delivered in the visual department. They closely resembled their coin-op ancestors.

commando stands somewhat apart still for being an exact copy of the st-version, which neither paperboy, g n g nor space harrier were. It's therefore not as colourful as it could n should have been.

yet whereas the abovementioned conversions were also very playable, I have to agree with SEXY WAYNE that something's off here with commando.

it's is a difficult game, just the way it's always been and it's not the challenge I despise, but the fairness of this conversion. I have just finished it (for the first time ) and I now think it's the fact that the collision detection does not fit the perspective employed to present the game. U always have to go in circles around opponents, otherwise u die if your head is slightly above the boots of an approaching soldier - and that's not an actual collision, it's a flaw that makes the challenge of commando pointlessly more difficult. I loathe not being correctly judged by a computer game.

i must admit I do like this conversion because it's a complete presentation of the original levels. Yet the collision flaw is inexcusable.

Typical Elite. The Amiga was powerful enough to have perfect conversions of most of the machines Elite licenced - Commando, Bombjack etc. - so why didn't it?

I guess it's easier to grab some old code, change the graphics, and bang it out for maximum profit......

A real disapoinment, something isn't quite right with this game, everything is there, graphics, sound but sadly the gameplay we all know and love from the arcade version just isn't there.
